Trump Adviser Suggests Cruz Isn't Likable Enough to Be Re-elected
WRAL ^ | October 8, 2016 | By Alexander Burns and Kenneth P. Vogel, New York Times

Posted on 09/08/2018 3:48:35 PM PDT by conservative98

President Donald Trump’s budget chief, Mick Mulvaney, expressed confidence to Republican donors Saturday that the party would overcome a Democratic “movement of hate” in November, but he acknowledged Republicans could lose races where they have nominated candidates who are not seen as “likable” enough, like Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

Hopefully the Texas GOP can get its act together
to replace this guy in the next cycle.

Who knows what the issues will be or who’ll
even be the candidates in 2024.

“If he didn’t conduct himself the way he did in 2016”

He went 4th grade girl for a bit (which really surprised me) but he’s come back as the brainiac who I respect and supports the American people and our decision of electing Trump.

Fake news. Yes.

Brace yourselves for “highly accurate and respected pollsters said today...” for a poll taken of CNN staffers at a backyard barbecue.

And for holding onto GOP seats “hopeless” in nearly every district says top analyst (Van Jones’ mother).

And worst political landscape for GOP in two generations (says a socialist community college temporary professor in Toledo).

No reason for Republicans to even vote due to hopeless GOP situation (says a community organizer who is an aide to Elizabeth Warren).

Let’s all remember to stay away from high ledges until we read the fine print of the sources of these, if even told to us.

I was a hard-core Cruz supporter in the Primaries expressly because of his extremely stellar resume. I have no clue what happened to him during the Primary race. The only thing that made sense to me was to blame it on taking bad advice from a zealous political advisor. It definitely was surreal to witness. Thankfully, it was over as quickly as it happened.

vote (your) conscience

What if Trump said that and refused to say Cruz’s name at the rally? Nah. Trump wouldn’t stoop that low and will give Ted his full support.

“Mulvaney is a jackass, making a statement that got into the media which undermines a solidly conservative Senate voice. I could not care less about any bitterness or hostility between Trump and Cruz - I don’t personally know either of them, nor do I care about their feelings - all I care about is the fact that both of them can enact policies which will benefit the country. Both of them need to work together and support each other. And morons like Mulvaney really need to be told to shut the hell up”

I agree 100%. I don’t care about personalities, I care about votes and actions. Trump and Cruz are top notch, anything that Mulvaney (who I also like) says to the contrary notwithstanding.

I know. I intend to volunteer to make calls for him when early voting begins. People shouldn’t be complacent and assume he, or any other republican anywhere, will win, and neglect to vote.

And the porn star lawyer is holding a resistance rally at the same time Trump is here rallying for Cruz. Gee, I wonder which event CNN will cover.

“If they can work with each other, it’s time to us to stop living in their past relationship.”

Exactly. It appears that Cruz has been fully supporting Trump since inauguration. I didn’t support him, but I admire him for put old feelings aside to save America.

He ran a bad campaign. Get over it. He is a solid conservative and is behind Trump’s agenda.

I agree. Being likable shouldn’t matter. If anyone that professes to be the least patriotic would not vote for a commie or sit back and let said commie win just because their guy just isn’t likeable.

Beto campaign tested me months ago wanting to know if they could count on my vote. I responded they could count on my vote for Ted Cruz.

I can get behind him, but still poke fun.

If he didn’t conduct himself the way he did in 2016, probably nobody here would even think of making fun of him.

I, for one, would rather we not lose another Senate seat, occupied at this time, by a genuine conservative. That is the only objective of the article posted. One seat from Alabama was enough.

At first in the campaign, the two got along so well I thought that might happen. They would have made great partners.

He didn’t just run a bad campaign, he took very severe actions that lead to very reasonable questions about his loyalty and his sanity both. We can go to the videotape if you forgot just how insane the things he was doing were, but really just the fact that he had serious trouble deciding between Clinton and Trump shows how extremely risky a character he is to have in a position of such importance. Of course it’s best if he wins this cycle, but for future planning purposes, it’s time for the Texas GOP to line up a replacement whether Cruz likes the idea or not.

President Donald Trump has tweeted his support for Ted Cruz and that’s good enough for me.

In 2016 they had a fight but President Trump is behind Cruz and plans to campaign down in Texas next month with him.

He has been backing the President’s agenda. He hasn’t been bitter and vindictive like McCain was. He didn’t vote against the ACA repeal just to stick it to Trump.
