Trump Adviser Suggests Cruz Isn't Likable Enough to Be Re-elected
WRAL ^ | October 8, 2016 | By Alexander Burns and Kenneth P. Vogel, New York Times

Posted on 09/08/2018 3:48:35 PM PDT by conservative98

President Donald Trump’s budget chief, Mick Mulvaney, expressed confidence to Republican donors Saturday that the party would overcome a Democratic “movement of hate” in November, but he acknowledged Republicans could lose races where they have nominated candidates who are not seen as “likable” enough, like Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

He didn’t just run a bad campaign, he took very severe actions that lead to very reasonable questions about his loyalty and his sanity both.

"Lighten up, Francis."

1. Nothing in his behavior before or since matches that short period, and nothing he said or did that summer was "severe" (unless you'd like to hold that same standard to our President)...

2. I think you'll find a TON of people on FR that are not exactly enamored with the RNC and GOP and the notion of blind "loyalty" to the Establishment RINOs. NOBODY in American politics can match Cruz's Conservative resume and his record of Legislative and Judicial success...

3. The ridiculous hyperbole about his "sanity" just shows the rest of your post to be even less substantive.

In 2016 they had a fight but President Trump is behind Cruz

Back when America was greater, men could have a knock-down drag-out fist-fight and be good friends soon afterwards.

Cruz is still polling at +4%, but was +9%

“No one on any conservative forum is wishing Ted ill.”

Oh yes there are!

“Sure, among the FR echo chamber of Lyn’ Ted pimps and supporters, he is fine, but I don’t think anyone else agrees.

Personally, he appears to be using the Clinton playbook with about as much success as she did. His incompetent campaign manager isn’t helping either.

And Lyn’ Ted is playing the same sleazy fundraising scams as he did to much criticism in 2016. I have on my desk in front of me the latest “Official Washoe County Summons”, “Summons Enclosed - Open Immediately.” Some idiots never learn....

...Not defending Beto, but from a distance, the event and discussion make Beto more real. Lyn’ Ted is just unlikeable. He lied and lied about things, such as citizenship, health insurance, campaign funding, etc. Reeks of typical politician. He’s universally disliked by anyone he’s worked with. Sadly the facts....

...Cruz was always the RoveRINO’s “Tea Party mole” and part of Sundance/The Conservative Treehouse’s “GOPE Splitter Strategy” for JEB to win the nomination. Ted Cruz’s own campaign lied about having the numbers for the nomination... when they didn’t....

...You know, overall, Lyn’ Ted never apologized for his lies and actions, not once. Part of why he is so unlikable....

...Hey 2nd Div Vet, tell lyin’ Ted to apologize and fess up about all his weird behaviours and actions in ‘16... ...Weird weird weird and lyin’ weird Ted...

...Yep, and Lyn’ Ted was so trounced and discredited that he should have retired from the Senate to make way for a Trump Republican that could win. Now, instead, he’s a loser begging for President Trump’s help. Begging for it without ever coming clean on his lies, without stopping his shameful campaign tactics, without campaigning, etc. And here on FR, yes, we want Republicans to win, but too many people forgive, forget, ignore, and make excuses. The results are yours the next time he undermine’s Trump on amnesty, ObamaCare, the border, fair trade, etc....

All on one thread:

Ted Cruz is backed solidly in Texas as he should be. He was fighting the establishment for us when Donald Trump was still inviting Bill and Hillary to his wedding and contributing to Democrats!!!

Watch the video of him announcing Fiorina as his VP and then tell me again, this time with a straight face, that you think there are not genuine and serious questions about his sanity.

[People shouldn’t be complacent and assume he, or any other Republican anywhere, will win, and neglect to vote.]

I agree 100%.

Cruz Rally-Trump Rally Pics.
LOL. Cruz should not feel bad,
Jeb had less than that.

We need to hold that seat.
With a Texas Size rally, probably
the largest on record, Cruz should
hold that seat.

I’m a big Trump supporter because of most everything he’s done as President, but I have to admit he is one of the most brash, obnoxious, and in your face politicians I’ve ever seen.

That’s what we love about him :-)

Excellent post.

Cruz is one of the smartest, most effective and articulate conservatives we have in the Congress.

His legal acumen is unsurpassed which makes him a double threat in both the legal and legislative realm.

I wonder if the story is some super 3-D chess that allows Cruz to triangulate for and against Trump within Texas.

I do not really think Beto has a chance.

I think the key reality check is the May primaries. Texas pro DEM media predicted a blue wave of Democratic primary voters that would prove that Cruz was doomed. In fact, a record number of Republicans showed up for their primary—vastly outnumbering Democrats who were actually running contested races for their positions across the state.

So think about that. With uncontested races, the Republicans had many more voters out in the May 2018 primaries than the Democrats who had contested races and were supposedly MAD AS HELL at Trump.

Without a reason to vote, Republicans crushed Democrats in May.

Why would fewer Republicans show up in the forthcoming November race?

Dems have predicted turning Texas blue for many elections.

They are wrong but I hope they wasted millions in precious resources here.

Looking at his actions in the Legislature, even just the ones in my Post #6, I'd say he already is. Name a better one with more Conservative accomplishments in office today.

The joke was that when it was suggested that Cruz be appointed to the Supreme Court, he was the one conservative that both D’s and R’s could get behind just to get him out of the Senate, so they wouldn’t have to deal with him anymore.
