Swedish PM calls far-right party racist on election eve

Sweden’s prime minister denounced an increasingly popular far-right party as racist and a threat to the nation’s European values Saturday as political candidates made their final pre-election pitches to voters.

The parliamentary election being held Sunday will be Sweden’s first since the government in 2015 allowed 163,000 migrants into the country of 10 million. While far less than what Germany took in that year, it was the most per capita of any European nation. […]

The Sweden Democrats, a party rooted in a neo-Nazi movement that has worked to soften its image, has played a role in breaking down longstanding taboos on what Swedes could say openly about immigration and integration without being shunned as racists. […]

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven stumped Saturday for his party, the Social Democrats, while portraying the Sweden Democrats as racist. Löfven accused some of his opponents of being prepared to work with the far-right party, which he vowed his party would not to.

“We are not going to retreat one millimeter in the face of hatred and extremism wherever it shows itself,” Löfven said. “Again and again and again, they show their Nazi and racist roots and they are trying to destroy the EU at a time when we need that cooperation the most.” …

The broadcaster that aired the televised debate, SVT, afterward called his remarks degrading and against the democratic mandate of public broadcasting.

This is the way left-wing politicians talk when they know they are about to lose.

White Genocide via opening borders to hordes of homicidal savages is racist.

That was my immediate impression upon reading the headline.

“fascist... racist... we won’t compromise at all... etc. etc.”

I’m guessing the Swedish Democrats are going to do well in Sunday’s election.

If the left had any real ideas, they would be promoting them, instead of falling back on their tired old tropes of “racism.”

That misnomer “far right” just won’t die, thanks to the internationalist faction of the left.

The term racist has been so overused as to be rendered almost meaningless.

Our Founding Fathers told us that every few centuries we would need to go to WAR with the powers that be. Parliamentary Governance in Europe does not allow for real, it will come from the Barrel of a Gun.

The word racist is losing any meaning. It's pretty much like saying someone has cooties. Calling someone Hitler doesn't raise hardly an eyebrow anymore. Because of overuse, nobody takes that accusation seriously. You might as well call someone Bluto or Snidely Whiplash.

“Far Right” is not always a misnomer. European political landscapes are not the same as here. And cultural realities like anti-Semitism and neo-Nazism have come in waves within so called right wing movements since even before the current migrant crisis. Including but not limited to Sweden.

Example: Marion-Marechal Le Pen, niece of Marine Le Pen and granddaughter of Jean Marie Le Pen has dropped ‘Le Pen’ from her name as she seeks to lead a conservative resurgence in France. Why? Because her grandfather has been a Holocaust denialist and his Front Nationale party has advocated the same.

In England this kinda thing is less so, but there: it is the Leftist Labour Party (led by the likes of Jeremy Corbyn) holding the banner for anti-Semitism.

The European “far right” is on the left notwithstanding. Their rhetoric does not deviate even from the internationalist left in terms of the main dogma of state control of all aspects of life, including when it comes to antisemitism (if there are any doubts about that, read “On ‘The Jewish Question’” by Karl Marx). AFAIK, the term “far right” itself is derived from Stalinist propaganda.

I see no movement anywhere in Europe that resembles what the US Founding Fathers were undertaking.
