good read. well explains why a statistic, or a poll for that matter, is only as good, fair or honest as the individual doing the study. once again it bears repeating the old proverb:
There are lies, damn lies, and then there are statistics.
it’s a bit ironic that real clear politics is publishing this article, since this proverb applies to them and their “averaged” polling pollsters most particularly:
to real clear politics: how is it again that an amalgam of hidden agenda driven errors can somehow turn out to be correct? i’d rather go to a bookie as his own skin is on the line in the product he sells.
I have long suspected that many countries intentionally hide their statistics on such things as mass shootings.
This article confirmed that suspicion.
Plus, there are only two countries in the world with larger populations than the US. I’m sure that India and China aren’t making any effort to collect or disseminate any data on mass shootings in their respective countries.
This was worth the time to read. Well done.
The lefty researcher, Adam Lankford, still refuses to release his data or methods. Says it all right there.
John Lott took him apart. Bwaaahaaaha!
Mass media are the ones driving this. They glorify, the shootings, and deify the shooters. No names or pictures of the shooters should be put on Mass media. Americans have become obsessed wth fame and wealth. I guess with easing of survival human compassion has waned.
