Pence: Trump a ‘tough,’ ‘demanding’ president who ‘wants things yesterday’
The Hill ^ | 09/09/18 | Kyle Balluck

Posted on 09/09/2018 7:20:25 AM PDT by yesthatjallen

Vice President Mike Pence in an interview broadcast Sunday said that accounts in veteran journalist Bob Woodward’s new book that Trump insults his Cabinet members are “very foreign to me,” adding that the president can be “tough” and “demanding” and “wants things yesterday.”

“I would tell you I know this president has great respect for the men and women who serve in this Cabinet,” Pence said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“And these accounts are very foreign to me. And I'm just not aware of instances where they've occurred and or where they would occur,” he added.

Pence said he would “stipulate” that “working in the White House is not for everybody.”

“I mean this president is tough. He's demanding. He wants things yesterday. And I think it's one of the reasons why we've accomplished so much in such a short period of time. I mean the truth is I think President Donald Trump is the most accomplished president of my lifetime and I think already one of the most successful presidents in American history, he said.

According to Woodward’s "Fear: Trump in the White House," Trump insulted Cabinet members and high-ranking national security officials including Attorney General Jeff Sessions, whom Trump reportedly called “mentally retarded.” Woodward's book and an anonymous New York Times op-ed purportedly written be a senior administration official working to thwart parts of the president's agenda roiled the White House last week.

Pence also said on CBS that “everything” is wrong with the narrative in Woodward’s book that people around the president are trying to protect the country from him.

“It shows a complete misunderstanding of how this White House works, and what President Trump provides for this country every day is strong and decisive leadership in the Oval Office,” Pence said.

“The narrative that I've picked up, in not only this book but the opinion editorials, suggests that things are happening in spite of the president's leadership, and nothing could be further from the truth,” he added.

Trump is treating his ‘employees’ like you’d get treated in the business world. If you can’t cut it for a commercial company....you get dismissed/fired. In the government, you get a pay raise.

Precisely why we elected him.

Being in a hurry to get things done, is one of his talents I voted for. Slow Moe congress takes months to do anything.

The Hill puts this headline up during the time people wonder who wrote the anonymous letter?

Ok

British Commander: “I think I can speak for Fieldmarshal Montgomery, he’d say your asking the impossible of your men.”

Patton: “Of course he would, he’s never realised that’s what we’re in business for.”

Suggests to me that the person who wrote the letter isn’t in the White House at all, but is a reporter who cobbled together all the gossip to create a narrative.

Pence is a good man. We are lucky to have him as VP.

Example?
I'm not arguing, I'm just curious. I have only read one Woodward book and that was The Brethren 35 years ago.

None of these writers accusing Trump of being a meanie has ever worked for a true CEO. As VP Pence says, they are extremely demanding, want things done yesterday, and do not suffer fools and low performers. If you can’t cut it, you are out.

The writers have only experienced conventional mealy mouthed “go along to get along” squishes. They have never experienced true leadership nor leaders who smash the status quo to get things accomplished. Their books and articles expose them as simpletons with no real world knowledge.

I don’t think Trump would be redundant and say Jeff Sessions is Retarded. Since it’s likely he already knows...

Slow mo Congress has dragged their feet for DECADES on critical issues like immigration, entitlement reform, bad trade deals, and deficits.

It they only shuffled along and delayed things a few months, we could live with that. But they are cowards who survive by kicking the can down the road for the next squishy politician to ignore.

Are the names, “Woodward”, and “Bernstein”, permanently endowed with reverence and power because of their actions in “Watergate”? I mean, laying a brick, or two, does NOT make you a “bricklayer”.

If those people got their Pampers in a wad because of something Trump said to them, or the way he said it, they need to get out of the business and open a “Rainbow and Unicorn Shop”, in Los Angeles. They’re “snowflakes”.

Before Trump, the government was run like a labor union; one group doing all the work, while the elitist leaders reign in all the money and power. Every little thing is a “grievance” and has to be negotiated.

Trump has brought it back to reality...to a business, like it should be.

Woodward needs to wake his pansy ass up and smell the roses. Journalist are all still wearing short pants and button up shoes, trying to report in what they perceive to be a fairy tale world. Snowflakes.

Most of the media spends all their time analyzing other media. A media “panel discussion” somehow evolves into “breaking news” on the next show.

They don’t report “news” anymore, they just slam lies against a wall to see if something sticks past the current news cycle. Too bad they opted for a life of clean fingernails, yet are stuck with dirty hearts and minds.

The #1 task of the executive is not to coddle the employees. In fact it’s not on the task list at all.
Trump’s own kids are expected to work hard and produce results.
But in government, an employee should not be required to lift anything but his ponderous paycheck?

“It shows a complete misunderstanding of how this White House works

***************

Its not a misunderstanding at all. Its clear bias against Trump. Woodward is a leftist shill who is simply trying to discredit Trump any way he can.

Many of us have worked for or with tough, demanding bosses who want things yesterday and realize those traits do in fact get things done. The alternative is a weak and feckless boss who never pushes people to produce great things but achieve little.

Speaking for myself, my resume and skills were always enhanced by working for bosses who demanded high levels of performance and tangible accomplishments rather than bosses who just want to look like they were doing something.
