Former US president Bill Clinton says he is concerned about the impact Brexit will have on the Belfast Agreement.
Speaking on the Pat Kenny Show on Newstalk, he said he was most worried about the Good Friday Agreement, because I care so much about Ireland.
As president, Mr. Clinton played a key role in negotiating the peace process in 1998 which helped to end 30 years of violence in the North. [
]
Even though Northern Irelands kept the peace, and theres still cranes in Belfast where work is going in and the Irish economy is back to where it was before the crisis, as the fastest growing economy in Europe. But the Northern Ireland economys growth is still under two percent, and its because of all this uncertainty and where were going to go.
Mr. Clinton said he believes the political situation in Northern Ireland will clarify, once people know exactly what the Brexit terms are going to be.

I assumed that both the UK and Ireland’s fast moving descent into secularism, materialism and post-modernism would at least mean they no longer will argue about religion.

Not that I remember the Belfast Agreement, but
Clinton must think his cut of something is going to end with the agreement,
or he realizes his Grande moment isn't playing well with funeral respectees and the #MeToo types,
or he thinks his welcome isn't worn out in Ireland and they'll give him a needed positive-attention fix.

Does he care for Ireland as much as he did Haiti?

As I understand it, the big problem for Ireland/Northern Ireland and Brexit is the issue of the border. Right now as both Ireland/UK are both part of the EU, it’s as if the border isn’t there. Totally free movement of goods and people. Once UK is out of EU, then the border becomes important again. Passports, customs, duties, etc. Neither Ireland nor Northern Ireland want that.

There are no British in Ireland. Only insofar as the Irish once called themselves the “Britani”.
Now are you going to say the same about Germany (the EU) leaving Ireland?

In your personal opinion, maybe but so long as the UK is on Irish soil, it is an occupation.

Not an opinion on my part. And your silence on the EU speaks volumesIreland is not using its own currency be but one whose central bank is in Frankfurt, delineating the identity of a particular occupier.

Sorry, I was focused on Northern Ireland and missed your point about use of Euros. Better that they adopt US Dollar if they don’t want their own currency.
