Retyping and adding some things:

Intra-conflict in the former Austro-Hungarian space is not over. Just look at what used to be Yugoslavia.

Czechoslovakia only split into two countries recently. Hungarian strongholds in parts of West Ukraine can have some tension as well. The list goes on.

Birth rates are low and abortion/euthanasia are epidemic in Europe esp in Scandinavian countries. Secular policies like these, plus red light district attitudes in Amsterdam and such...weakened these cultures decades before the Muslims came in.

The dream of a united Europe is very personal to people like my grandparents, who lived through WWII on the fault lines of some of these divisions. Even with the crisis posed by Islam now, nothing compares to the levels of destruction and catastrophe, and acts of civilizational annihilation the Europeans inflicted upon themselves.

The problem is when Europe tried to recover peace, it neglected to recover her faith. And it is only faith (the Christian faith in all its prisms) that can bind all the disparate parts of Europe together in truth.

A CNN editorial slamming PM of Hungary, Orban:

Hungary is a threat to international order. The US must act — now

https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/12/opinions/hungary-sanctions-article-7-verhofstadt-opinion/index.html

“Guy Verhofstadt, a former Belgian prime minister, is president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Group (ALDE) in the European Parliament. The opinions in this article are those of the author.

(CNN)When I addressed Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary, at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday, I did not go so far as the late, great, John McCain, who once described Orbán as “a neofascist in bed with Putin.”

However, I certainly would not have disagreed with Mr. McCain’s analysis in 2014. If anything, the situation regarding the rule of law and democracy in Hungary has since deteriorated.”

Similar to the resistance against Trump for telling the globalists to shove it.
