Is their suicide rate high because of discrimination or because they’re mentally f’ed up individuals? Cause and effect requires more than political analysis

I have a former student who decided he is a woman. Started wearing dresses. Had the surgery. Thought the surgery would do the trick. Apparently it didn’t. I’ve been told he’s seriously depressed. Maybe deep down he realizes no matter what he removes, adds, etc. he’ll never be a woman.
