Occasionally we do. Years ago I recall one poster who was advocating violence and war with almost every single comment. The mods banned him.

So educate us here, just what the heck do YOU care about?

I think you replied to the wrong person.

Believe me when I say that the administration at reddit is every bit in on this banning operation as anyone else.

Accessing the internet through your phone service, or an internet service..the connection itself..is a public utility, but from there, much is private servers, people’s private computers and those are NOT a public utility.

I could set my laptop up as a server to deliver content to interested parties, or even as an email server, but it’s still my personal computer, not a public utility. The internet is comprised of many personal computers offering content to those who connect to that content, and as such, the owners can pull the plug at any time, and choose not to deliver that content any more.

That’s what is so nice about the internet. It’s supposed to be abastion of freedom. But as such, freedom isn’t without personal responsibility and self restraint.

While you sit at your keyboard, you are typing into somebody else’s space. You do not have the right to be reckless!

It seems that the alphabet, mockingbird news outlets have forgotten that their job is to produce truthful information, notanipulate and control outcomes (behaviors). That’s what op-eds are for.

Freedom of speech was never intended to be used to deliberately cause personal injury. It was intended to prevent those in power from stiffling the people’s right to hear and discuss political information.

Sorry for the ‘lecture’ bit we as a people really do need to re-establish our priorities, otherwise we have no personal guidelines and promote further lawlessness.

Full scale censorship from the anti-social media.

Remember the leaked video from Google at 49:10 (49 minutes 10 seconds), the Googler called for adoption of a “high touch, low scale” investment at the grassroots level.

Well, blocking and deleting certainly are HIGH TOUCH.

This problem happens on Free Republic. The set-up is obvious that they are looking to create a negative narrative by goading people into rash statements.

Political correctness is election interference. Shutting down social media accounts to silence speech interferes with elections.‬

Someone who gets it.

Wet amendment stops the government from stifling speech.

Reddit is not the govt..

How do you know the government didn't order Reddit to do it?

How do you find out if Obama ordered Google to remove a video that he blamed Benghazi on?

How can you tell what is a "private" decision by a private company, and what is a forced decision by government, but made to appear as if a "private" company decided to do this?

China routinely orders Google to censor content they don't like. How are you going to tell when that is happening here?

That's funny. You think manipulating elections by censoring dissent is a game. I assure you Washington DC takes it quite seriously. They want to keep their power.

Your reading comprehension sucks a$$.

You remind me of one of the liberal talking heads they drag onto Fox News to throw out straw man arguments.

I said reddit censoring Qanon talk was not a 1st amendment issue because it is a private business not the governement....just like freerepublic.

I also said Qanon was a joke.

Do not put words in my mouth.

Also....Qanon is a joke. I would rather deal.qith realities than some anonymous clown who is the equivalent of a person throwing chicken bones in a pot then twlli g me what my fortune is.....but supposedly smart people believe the half phrases and little groups of words he/she/they post is some secret code that reveals the future and explains the past.

I don't give a crap about "Qanon". I've never paid much attention to it. "Qanon" isn't the point. "Alex Jones" isn't the point. "Prager U" isn't the point. "Robert Spencer" isn't the point.

The point is that this is a power these people should not have, and so far as *I* am concerned, if you have a million or above audience, you should not be allowed to censor any of them beyond what the law requires. (illegal content.)

I don't care if you think the first amendment only applies to governments. Had you read any of the Federalist papers and such, and had you any familiarity with crimes like "Lese Majeste", and such, you would understand that the founders only mentioned government because they never conceived that "private" corporations would be so large that they could effectively censor people.

To the founders, only a government could do such a thing.

Their intent was that people be not censored, and I believe it is an absolutely necessary component of our system of governance that we do not tolerate censorship no matter how it is accomplished or by whom.

If you think otherwise, than you either haven't carefully considered the consequences of what you believe, or you're an idiot.

Nowadays these mega-corporations are working hand in glove with the Deep State socialists imbedded into our system. The loop hole of "private" censorship is big enough to drive a tyranny through it.

"Private" is just a puppet for "Government". Figure it out.
