We can count actual lives that HAVE BEEN SAVED by carbon-based energy. From the phone call, to the ambulance that responded, to the hospital refrigerator that kept blood and medicine usable for long periods until the call happened and the ambulance arrived. Countless millions of people around the world are alive today because of carbon-based energy.
And that’s just the a number that’s somewhat easy to get a reasonably accurate count. There are so many people who eat daily because carbon-based fuel delivers seed and fertilizer, powers irrigation, and takes crops from the farms to almost every corner of the world. We don’t really know how many of them would be dead like we do with the people who received time critical medical help after calling 911 and riding in an ambulance in countries powered by coal.
Kerry wants to reduce that where it exists and prevent it from being available to a billion additional people.
