What they and the other social media giants are doing would be the 14th century equivalent of Gutenberg only allowing people he agreed with politically to use his printing press.
They are too big and too powerful and the only answer is to break them up and regulate them.
They are controlling the world's information, and more importantly, information distribution and flow to a much greater extent then Rockefeller ever controlled oil or Carnegie ever controlled steel

How are a bunch of different pieces of Google going to be different?
The big corporations love being regulated. They get to control the process to crush would be competitors. Bust them up then get out of the way.
here is a pattern that I’ve noticed:
1) Why won’t you listen to us(A large percentage of the population) ? I’m interested to know. Please tell me your point of view.
2) We (A somewhat smaller populace at this point) have your points of view and have used your input to create a bigger, better thing to rule over you. Please listen to us now.
3) You don’t understand. You’re too much of a simpleton. We have addressed each of your problems (A smaller group this time, who have phrased their conquering of you as “addressing your issues”) and you still want to be backwards and wrong.
4) We’re doing it anyway (This time “we” is about a few thousand people) and you can do you and we’ll do us.
5) In order for us (about a few hundred people) to do our thing, you need to stop doing yours.
6) If you don’t stop doing what you do, being who you are and thinking as you do we (about 100 people) will put you away. We have millions who support this idea.
7) I am calling for your defeat. Violence doesn’t matter to me. I am us. I am to be satisfied. You had your chance and now millions of people will allow me to bulldoze over you and yours. I’m doing this for me while millions think I am doing it for them.
And there we have this pattern of how the collective will ultimately become a single emperor-style iconoclast.
The 10x bigger problem is Google server farms run most of the internet traffic west of Denver.
This includes FB , yahoo and probably portions of Apple external sites.
With a couple quick changes, they could cripple any website they choose.

These current companies have gone beyond working with other industry leaders and companies.
China realized it, why can’t we ? These companies are now de-facto departments of the CCP.
Only a global war of epic losses will correct this.

I am not advocating breaking them up.. BUT
How does a little upstart compete against a behemoth like Google.
My guess is you don’t compete.. Someone has to offer something a little different..fill a niche ...perhaps join forces with other smaller companies?
Same with Facebook..don’t try to be a facebook clone...give people a social media outlet with less pop ups and less intrusion.

was thinking how you could effectively break up google and I think I no how. google controls data and Makes its money by advertising....you don’t allow google itself to have a internet site, instead they have to sell access to other companies to there data archives. those companies then are allowed to come up with there own search algorithms with the requirement that it is all open source.
