Willie is always my go-to guy for political insight. 🙄 Maybe his kids talked him in to it.

“Pissin’ off half your fans. But at this point, who cares about Willie?”

I like his music but from today he is dead to me.

Goodby Willie

Willie Nelson has charisma and his fans. Many call him a “National Treasure” of Texas. When under the influence, Willie’s fans will probably vote democratic or not at all. I’ve yet to hear anyone say he’s voting for Beto because of Willie’s endorsement. In fact Willie’s approval may have a negative influence with voters.

Cruise is very intelligent, a strict Constitutionalist, and believes in the rule of law (something conservative Texans are watching closely nowadays). I agree, he has the charisma of a turnip. In 2016 nominations, he didn’t see Trump coming and got caught up in the politics of the moment. Unable to sort it out, he went down in flames as did others with far more political acumen. I doubt he will ever be POTUS, but if Trump is wise, Cruise has all the makings of a great Supreme Court judge. In the meantime he will serve us well as a Senator.

Beto on the other hand is the best the democratic party can offer. Thank God they did not find and convince some of the better qualified democrats in Texas to run against Cruise. Having witnessed the Wendy Davis fiasco (a new low in Texas politics), the smart ones are sitting on the sidelines watching this play out. The Obama crowd, the Trump haters, and maybe some of the Republican Cruise haters from the 2016 elections will vote for Beto. The rest will vote for Cruise or not at all. If there is a big voter turnout, then Beto is toast.

The key here is convincing conservative Texans (and middle of the road democrats) Beto is for real and not another Wendy Davis. I don’t believe this will happen.

I’ll agree Willie and Beto both have charisma. Cruise not so much.

Remember used car salesmen have charisma too. Ask yourself “Would I buy a used car from Willie or Beto”? I wouldn’t.

Texas generally know when they are being “bullsh*tted” and Willie and Beto are full of it.

Robert Francis O’Rouke’s greatest appeal comes from his media-created image. He is as dumb as a turnip, but Texas Monthly and other state media outlets present him as the second coming of RFK. Smoke, mirrors, and steaming piles of horses**t.

He did an interview with a radio station in Lubbock, and he couldn’t handle simple questions from the radio host - this is why he is not debating Sen. Cruz (he can’t handle the heat).

I agree with you 100%. The O’Rourke the media presents is a figment of the liberal imagination. The real O’Roarke is a village idiot who is starting to believe what he reads in the fake media.

Same thing happened when Wendy Davis ran for governor. All hat and no cattle. Got her a$$ handed to her even in some of the most democratic counties.

O’Rourke better not debate anyone, much less Cruz. It would expose him to public ridicule which he cannot afford at this stage. As he goes from county to county (all 254), he will draw a crowd. Some will be informed voters, but many will be the usual suspects: liberals, socialists, paid activists, illegal immigrants, felons, pedophiles, gender benders, plantation types, and others to name a few. They will follow him from county to county. Of course, the fake media will play on the public interest he has generated and the fake polls will show him to be gaining on Cruz.

Meanwhile, many registered voters will be comparing him to Wendy Davis. He had better find a hat and some cattle before the polls close on election day or he is toast.

These days, he is spending more time campaigning out of state to get more Hollywood, DC, and NYC cash.

He better get his rear back to Texas before the voters find out and begin to question him about it.

If it is a question of money, I would give the edge to Cruz. He's been building a war chest for the past two years.

Sorry, but I'm not comforted by your cautious optimism. I don't think Dem voters are particularly bright, nor are they deep thinkers. The Socialism wave is unnerving to me. Who would have ever thought? I can remember going head to head with Dems on message boards in the early 2000s and exposing that their positions were nothing more than Socialism. They were highly incensed! How dare I say such a thing?!

Look at where we are now. The left, motivated by a visceral hatred for all things Republican (which used to be synonymous with conservatism) and especially Donald Trump, has become so bloody wacky they're happy to rub elbows with the Socialists, Democratic Socialists or whatever they like to call themselves this week. Democrats from eras past are rolling over in their graves.

Anyway, since polls are so unreliable these days, I'm sure we won't be able to count on anything until election day.

On the lighter side, I've discovered that I'm not the only one who is not enamored with Willie. Others have come out of the closet -- privately, of course, for fear of being accused of Willie Derangement Syndrome. There are precious few safe places to speak an ill word about Willie.

I'm not optimistic, but I am cautious. Too many conservatives are overly optimistic. When most (50+%) of the voters we call i.e "liberal idiots" voted for Hillary, they pose a very serious threat to the remaining conservatives. It's closer than we think. We have to work hard to convince a few of them to switch liberal their positions before the next election.

There are precious few safe places to speak an ill word about Willie.

As far as Willie is concerned, I just ignore his political views. There are no safe places in Texas to speak ill of him. If you dislike him, don't listen to his music, buy his records, or attend his concerts.

Hahahaha! So you're saying Texas is just like those sissy little college campii with safe spaces for sensitive ears? ROTF. If it were true, I'd tell Texas to man up. But I refuse to believe that about my Texas. Boldest and grandest, withstanding every test...

If you dislike him, don't listen to his music, buy his records, or attend his concerts.

Now, why didn't I think of that? Oops. I did already. Never spent a dime on anything Willie. Let it go, bro.

Working hard to keep Ted Cruz in office and convert liberals to conservatives. I'd be doubly happy for that to happen since it would mean that Willie's efforts would have been for naught. :)
