France is famously America’s oldest ally, but more than half of French people no longer consider the United States a reliable partner, according to a survey released Wednesday.

Just 44 percent said the US was a “trusted ally” under President Donald Trump — a 33-point plunge since the same survey was done in May 2014, when Barack Obama was in the White House.

Only 17 percent said they had a positive opinion of Trump in the IFOP poll, commissioned by the American Jewish Committee advocacy group, France’s Foundation for Political Innovation and the Sursaut think-tank collective.

Some 54 percent said they had a “very bad opinion” of the Republican leader.

Supporters of the far-right National Rally party led by Marine Le Pen — formerly the National Front — were the only group to express a more positive opinion, with 42 percent backing Trump. …

The Socialists and more recently (although for decades by now) have completely taken over France.

The French have lost their country. Sad.

The left took over in the USA and worked to undo what was done in Europe, particularly the part where the EU comes on the scene. Remember, it was Kaiser Wilhelm II that envisioned the existence of “a United States of Europe against America”, and that dream did not die.

It’s been lost to the EU for quite some time. All of France’s national politicians are sycophants, including people like Sarkozy and Macron, never mind Hollande with his 70% tax rate.

The figures I saw showed almost 9400 American soldiers buried in France. Compare that with the number of French soldiers buried here.

Honestly, we should quietly begin exhuming our war dead remains and bring them all home, beginning with the men buried in the Normandy cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. From there, extend the effort out to smaller WWII burial places and the ones from WWI as well.

Not because the French are offending our profound sacrifice - again, but because they have chosen a cultural path that is certain to lead to those graves being desecrated.

France isn’t far from being a Muslim nation. They have strong ties to many African countries. Perhaps they would not be a good fit with a nationalistic Europe that wakes up.

The feeling’s quite mutual. The Yurps are not our allies. We can’t count on them and the vast majority here know it.

Not without guaranteeing that the EU actually does not get to accelerate their dream of a EU-wide military first.

Bad enough that they’ve already gone Molotov-Ribbentrop redux. Both the EU and that other historic neighbor are trying to carve up Eastern Europe between themselves again. We do need to insert ourselves in there.

We trusted them to surrender at the first opportunity in WW2, and the French met expectations.

France can align itself with Germany and the neoliberal order spearheaded there, or it can align itself with the United States, but it can’t do both at once.

France hasn’t been a trusted ally since the American Revolution..................
...............................................

You are stuffed with IGNORANCE. Try telling that to a Gulf War vet who told me the French were the only Ally who knew what the H they were doing. The magnificent sweep of French tanks that bottled the Iraq elite forces was proof. That’s just one example. There are many. It’s he French beside us in A-Stan.
Anyone who thinks the Brits are our closest ally are first class fools. Just look at their attitude toward Trump when he visited England this year. Take a look at the Brit spy who tried to frame Trump in the Mueller affair. You can even go back to WWII when that little poppycock Montgomery tried to claim credit for every success including the Battle of the Bulge. Eisenhower wouldn’t listen to Patton and sided with Monty in Market-garden resulting in a huge defeat. Monty never got blamed for anything just like soft headed Americans think the Brits hung the moon. No Thanks! Throughout our history our closest allies have been the French.
