Multiple explosions in the Lawrence, MA area.
Responders saying this type of incident unprecidented. I am about 12 miles away.
It can’t all rely on one regulator can it? There has to be multiple regulators in series and safety cutoff valves and pressure monitoring at the source. As someone said earlier their should be relief valves(although venting into the air could be very dangerous). I just can’t believe that the system would not be designed with multiple safety’s so that this could never happen by chance.
What in God’s Name is happening? He must be very mad at the USA.

Yet right next door is the prestigious Andover and Phillips Academy. Some future president is sheltering on their athletic fields now.

National Grid is striking but this is Columbia who had also planned pipeline improvements in the future.
Who wants to bet that the "failure" was not accidental, given a Labor dispute going on at the same time.

Could be riot time.
Earlier when it first happened, they were telling people that if they knew how to shut their gas lines off, to do that.
They said it was an over pressurized system, the as company was depressurizing the system, but that it takes time. Then, they told the residents in South Lawrence to evacuate, as well as North Andover. Emergency shelters were being opened in Andover.
For a while, S. Lawrence was being told to get north of the river.
I watched a house burn for nearly 30min. Before for crews could get to it.
One thing I admire about that area is their mutual aid agreements with their neighboring communities. They had departments coming down from NH and ME to assist.
At one time I lived on Abbot St. In So. Lawrence which is only a few blocks from the North Andover toen line. In the west where I live now, it can be any miles between one town and the next. But in that area, the towns are all adjacent to the next town.
I sure hope the best for all involved, you are in my prayers.
