Immigrants in North Carolina and South Carolina shouldnt worry about being arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as they evacuate their homes or at the emergency shelters, an ICE spokesperson said Wednesday.
Bryan Cox, spokesperson for ICE in the southern region, said everyone should follow local evacuation orders during Hurricane Florence.
Our highest priority remains the preservation of life and safety, Cox said in an email. In consideration of these circumstances, there will be no immigration enforcement initiatives associated with evacuations or sheltering related to Florence, except in the event of a serious public safety threat.
Hurricane Florence has forced more than 1 million residents in the Carolinas and Virginia to evacuate their homes.

Storm or no storm, arrest and deport illegal aliens!
Targets of opportunity should be a no-brainer in any kind of enforcement activity.
At least get their names and location so that after the drama, they can be picked up. Not sure if the majority of the population would like a family getting picked up running from a hurricane. However, in a few weeks, deport them.
A sixteen year old high school girl in our area was stabbed to death a few days ago, by a 20 year old Guatemalan illegal.
“Storm or no storm, arrest and deport illegal aliens!”
It’s called suicidal altruism. We have become too weak as a nation so we’re being conquered with the help of our politicians and the coastal elites.
Why not offer them a nice detainment facility out of harm’s way?
However, if they return....
Why not? If you rescue them and realize they are illegal, turn them over to ICE to be removed from the area and deported. That frees up local resources and recovery efforts for Americans. They do much of this already directing people to shelters and all based on their mobility, etc. What’s another category for illegal aliens? No brainer in my opinion.
Perhaps ICE agents in that region would be put to better use saving, rescuing, aiding and assisting hurricane victims at this time.
Good point. I guess I just hate the media and how they would distort it to make the GOP look bad. A daily occurrence I know.
We are such a neutered country. Can’t uphold the laws. Can punish DEMs for their illegal activities. What’s the F’ing point?
*Can’t punish ...
Immigrants in North Carolina and South Carolina shouldnt worry
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Immigrants shouldn’t worry anyway, they have legal permission to be here.
Illegal aliens should be arrested at any time.
Immigrants shouldn’t worry and ICE shouldn’t bother with them.
Illegals should be deported.
You don’t lure a fly with a hammer. Besides, the crushing crowds leaving the area are a logistical nightmare.
Best to wait and when they ask for help with everyone else, we’ll just give them a little extra “help” (detain & deport).
That’s my read from this “announcement”...
Yes, LEGAL immigrants should have nothing to fear, they are here LEGALLY. Illegal aliens should fear, should fear enough to leave and go home. Whenever encountered and identified as an illegal alien, they should be immediately arrested and removed to be deported. That rescues them from the hurricane dangers, frees up local resources for Americans and legal immigrants.
Isn’t this the exact reason ICE got $10 million from FEMA?
Certainly not if those "immigrants" are here on valid legal visas or have become naturalized citizens. All other "immigrants" are here illegally and ought to be treated as such, good weather or foul.
