The Department of Critical Identity Studies seeks to develop students’ understanding of how social identities—like race, gender, sexuality, class, dis/ability, nation, non/religiosity—have formed historically, along with the ways those identities play out in the complex and multicultural worlds in which we now live—and this includes the College's campus!
Combining a variety of academic disciplines (gender and women’s studies, ethnic studies, queer studies, disability studies, postcolonial studies), Critical Identity Studies (CRIS) investigates the ways identities are shaped within structures of inequality and through systems and practices of power and resistance.
From the introductory course, “Sex and Power,” to the advanced theoretical courses which include “Whiteness,” “Masculinities,” "Gender Bending," "Race and Culture," "Feminism and Politics," "'Black Lives Matter," and “Thinking Queerly,” CRIS courses are always interdisciplinary, intersectional, and oriented toward social justice. As such, Critical Identity Studies emphasizes the importance of communicating across differences as a means to fulfill the College’s mission of empowering students “to lead fulfilling lives marked by high achievement, personal responsibility, and public contribution in a diverse society.”

There will be a ton of blather that boils down to two things:

A REAL subject”
Except engineering curricula have been infiltrated with social justice electives of late. One university has a requirement of 18 credit hours, which have pushed aside other technical subject electives.

You may have graduated some time ago.
Decades ago Purdue’s engineering curriculum had hardly any electives.
When I was at New Jersey Institute of Technology (the former Newark College of Engineering) in the seventies, I did have one professor who was a card carrying commie, and one who was an admitted limousine liberal. They were not teaching engineering courses.
I had an economics professor who thought FDR was a saint. Of course later I heard the great Walter Williams subbing for Rush.
They used to be called Commissars.
Perhaps they have a different name today; but I'm sure the purpose is the same: Keeping the rest of us in line.
Under the next Democrat regime, companies will be required to hire them. And they will be well-paid.
The Left didn't create these courses for no reason.
