There is a big difference between legal and illegal immigrants.

1/5 of the U.S. population is now composed of people who have no history in this country? When did we Americans vote for that?
My father’s ancestors came in 1743 and my Mother’s in 1681.
Other then my Grandfather marrying a British woman when he was in the Foreign Service in the 1920’s I have no immigrant ancestors for going on 275 years.
We aren’t “immigrants”. We’re Americans.
You tell me that after all my families went through - the passage in wooden ships to Philadelphia, the Revolution, the Civil War that split my family, the two World Wars that took the lives of so many in our families, the trek West in the covered wagons (really), the Depression, Vietnam, the Cold War, on and on and....we’re supposed to say sure, you can vote in our elections. You can rule us. We got nothin’! We’re nobodies!
I’m sorry. I can’t see any of it. In fact, at this point in history, I think we the Americans should re-introduce Jus Sanguinis and simply declare that the votes of anyone who “arrived” after 1965 are simply invalid.
There might be 10% of them who MAYBE we could see admitting into the political nation. The rest? Nothing more then guest workers, opportunists who walked into the most advanced country on Earth because they wanted to improve their lifestyle.
A significant fraction also claim preferences in law over us because of their identification as “victim minorities”. Victims of what and whom? The situation of their own birth in another nation? Which THEY chose to leave to come here?
Can you explain that? Why a descendant of the Spanish Conquistadors - some of the most rapacious, villanous bastards on Planet Earth - should have a federal preference over any white Anglo-Saxon who descends from 10 generations of settlers? Can you? With a straight face?
And the same is true of millions of Asians, many of whom are from Communist tyrannocracies that they don’t disagree with, they just wanted to make a bit more cash and heard that the land of Gold Mountain had that? And oh by the way, they too are “victims” who outrank any Caucasian in law, simply because of the genetics they carry?
I mean really pal. Do you think the U.S. is just a parking spot, empty dirt that anyone can squat on, and the locals are just Maroons to be cucked for all the dinero you can beat out of them?

And it sounds like you don’t understand the concern about people who have no tradition of FREEDOM. And people who are tribal and will end up fighting each other. And people who are loyal to their country of origin.
You could well be an exception. But if you are, you understand the concern about many of the others.

I’m opposed to illegal immigration, but I reject the idea that ALL immigration is evil, or all immigrants are! I reject utterly this comment:

I’d like to see a merit-based immigration. I have no problem with immigration of IMMEDIATE family members, with some restrictions. But I am not nor can I ever become “anti-immigrant”. Nor does my own family give anyone cause to be.

Just want to add that a huge number of lily-white NBC folks in California are FLAMING LIBERALS! Nor do I harbor any racial hatred for Hispanics or Asians, or assume they are genetically doomed to liberal ideas. Unless, of course, some conservatives treat them like trash and drive them into the arms of the liberals!
If 55% of California legal residents are Hispanic or Asian, then maybe you and others should follow Trump and try to WIN THEIR VOTE!

If you are an American now, then you should love America and you should agree with all your heart that immigration is OUT OF CONTROL and is now ruining this great country.
You should know that Regulator is referring to the immigrants that have overrun this country and have no love for its history and its Constitution. You should tell Regulator you understand and can get behind him with respect to illegal immigration and to legal immigration that brings in people through a lottery, people that could care less for America and Americans.
Know this about American history, that President Franklin Roosevelt was pressured greatly by Americans in the 1930s to establish a moratorium on ALL LEGAL IMMIGRATION because the American Society needed a break to absorb what it already had! You should understand this and support your fellow Americans to stop all immigration until the country has stabilized and absorbed the tens of millions it now has.
Understand also that immigration has become a voter recruitment tool and weapon of the dying democrat party, a party that is now adopting the failed socialist ideology. If the country your parents left is or was a socialist hellhole, then as an American you should be on the front lines screaming and shouting that you will not allow leftist driven immigration to continue turning this country into a socialist hellhole. People are today not coming to work, they are coming for handouts given by socialist programs of government.
As one example of what socialism does to America, look at the City of San Francisco, a once beautiful city of great value that now is overrun with homelessness, illegal aliens, and cannot even keep human excrement off its streets and sidewalks, all brought about by socialists who sit on its city council, no exaggeration.
