42ND STREET: “YOU’RE GETTING TO BE A HABIT WITH ME”

Tonight is dedicated to one of the great immortal tunes that Harry contributed to the songbook.

In this clip from the movie, Bebe sings the intro, which contains the line, “someone to be gay with.” Then she dances with a whole bunch of guys and ends up with Gandhi. This is a classic bit.

This is also from the film, a rehearsal scene accompanied by just the pianist. That’s famed character actor Guy Kibbee loving her performance and a future great character actor, Allan Jenkins, suggesting an understudy role.
