Doesn’t eliminate it all all. Say the gang wants to send a message, but not have all hell break loose, the gang finds someone willing to pick a fight with the vic and set the stage for what, at worst, looks like vehicular manslaughter. The penalties for which, in NYC anyway, are a joke. They can stage the hit, send a message to the appropriate parties, all without generating any more bad press.
I hope LE does a VERY thorough investigation.

Standing in the street to talk has some risk to it.
They’re so unpredictable ... the pit bulls of SUVs. One minute it’s humming along, and then Wham! it turns on you.
In the case of illegal alien offenders, our government has probably been the biggest accessory to murder.
There was another article that indicated that the mother and another person were setting up a memorial to the two slain girls on someone else’s property (which is the property where the two bodies were found), most likely without permission from that property owner (who may also have been the person driving the SUV).
Someone else’s property? I guess she got what she deserved, then. /s
It’s a complete outrage.
