unless an interceptor hit it the passenger jet over water (or the coast) with a missile and the decompression blew out debris from the craft that drifted on the wind out to sea while the plane descended to crash further inland...?

Anything is possible, but we will find out if that plane is in fact in Cambodia and missing the parts found in various places in the ocean. - Tom

I know the pilot of the flight was suspect. And the wreckage—if anything turns up—might be a different flight altogether that disappeared under other circumstances.

If the photo I saw online were really the suspected craft in the jungle, it’s in remarkable condition. It appears to have kept both of its major wings intact! I would have guessed that they would shear off plunging through the forest canopy.
