ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before;
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory.
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers lift your voices proud your anthems raise.

Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod;
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

What the saints established that I hold for true;
What the saints believed, that I believe too.
Long as earth endureth, men the faith will hold;
Kingdoms, nations, empires, in destruction rolled.

Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain;
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.

Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song;
Glory, laud, and honour unto Christ the King;
This through countless ages men and angels sing.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

"Onward, Christian Soldiers” was written in 1865 with no intention of ever being published, especially in adult hymn books. Rev. Sabine Baring-Gould, its author, was at that time the curate of a parish in Yorkshire county in the north of England. "It was written in great haste, and I am afraid some of the rhymes are faulty. Certainly nothing has surprised me more than its great popularity."

In 1871 Arthur Sullivan wrote the tune “St. Gertrude” for the hymn, which further popularized the hymn and has ever since been its standard melody.

Howdy, radu! Did you have a good time at the museum this morning? Did you get to be a guide?

We had a good flight and now everyone [but me] is watching Despicable Me. I’m here instead. I’ll probably watch some volcano or hurricane stuff. That’s more my style.

Good evening, radu, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Has harvesting already started?

Museum today? Did you get to be a guide yet?

Thanks.
I miss it but I’m glad I don’t live there currently. The house I lived in at Wilmington was in a low spot and is most likely submerged. I feel badly for whoever lives there now.

Howdy, LUV!

Glad you made it safe and sound. Bet it was wonderful being able to give everyone bear hugs.
It looked like a pretty day up there when I checked a few of the cams earlier.

Had a great time at the museum, but I always do. Did a couple of tours and did some cleaning out on the floor. Stuff on display needs to be touched up periodically and today was a good day for it since there wasn’t anything in the big tote to work on.

Hey there, Kathy.

No, harvest time here is still a ways off. Our fields were planted a little later than some others in the area. I figure sometime around the middle of October the beans will be ready.

Yes, went to the museum and yes, got to do a couple of tours. If it hadn’t been so durn hot, it would have been a perfect day but it was a little warm even in the section that has A/C.

Almost forgot I snapped pix of two new additions to the museum. Mr. Creely, in Tupelo, is sending four of the old military wagons he has to the museum on loan. Two were brought up yesterday and they'll bring the other two up when they can get back down there. This one's been beautifully restored ...

I fell asleep watching a movie and forgot to turn off my alarms across the room. Went off at 6:40a...*sigh*...never really went back to sleep.

Did a little house cleaning, did some reading, and then went to lunch with Dot...Mexico in Alaska. Excellent food, and the owner and Dot are old, old friends And they got to chat a bit...so nice for them.

Yesterday was another record high temp day...70 degrees, so I watered the back yard. Maybe the front tomorrow.

This one has been nicely restored as well, though not painted like the other one was.

I need to find out what years these were made. The wagon that is owned by the museum is a 1914 wagon.

Oh nooooooo! Forgot to turn off the alarms? That stinks. TURN THEM OFF NOW!! LOL

But it sounds like you had a really nice day even though you woke up too early. Neat that you got together with Dot for lunch.

Your 70 degrees sounds heavenly to us down here. LOL! We’re still dealing with 90s! It’s time for that to go by the wayside! It’s the middle of September!

Tomorrow and Monday will be cooler, and maybe a little wet, courtesy of Florence’s remnants. Then back to 90s. *sigh*

Oh,wow. Those wagons are awesome! Txradioguy needs to see the one from Ft. Riley. They’ll make a great addition there.

It was beautiful here, but the wind was blowing, which is kind of unusual in this area, and it really made for a bumpy ride coming down for the landing.

I don’t think we’ll be up much longer. No nap today and now it’s catching up with me. LOL!

Mr. Creely has a large building that was crammed full of old wagons of all sorts. The wagons were a package deal like the military collection and he wouldn’t sell the four military wagons separately. He hasn’t been able to sell the wagon collection so far and decided to loan the four to the museum, which thrills us to no end. We can’t wait for the other two to be brought up.

Glad the weather’s good, though a bit windy. I hope it doesn’t get real cold while you’re up there.

The wind’s falling out of my sails too. Only about 4 hours sleep last night because it was hot in the house and I was constantly on the go at the museum today. The pillows are calling. LOL!

Have a great day with the kids and grandkids tomorrow!

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

You and Gizmo having a grand weekend? I hope it isn’t as hot there as it is here. Kinda takes the fun out of roaming around the park when it’s stifling.

Good evening/morning, Idaho. ((HUGS)) The leaves are just starting to turn here, and starting to fall too. The deck is almost covered. When it IS covered I will sweep them all off.

Glad Fredd is enjoying his surroundings and you are ready for the snow.

MAGA!!

And a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Well, it feels a little cool this morning. Gizmo did some running yesterday out at the lake. There were also quite a few out there. Saw one couple kayaking.

A week late, but I love the military wagons.

I wonder what the “special features” were....

They’re nicely restored wagons. I have no clue what the “special features” were. The guy who went to pick them up and should have the info wasn’t there last weekend so we couldn’t ask. I wasn’t there yesterday since I had to work the booth at the festival so have to wait til next Sat. to find out.

There are two more old military wagons to be brought up but I doubt it happened this weekend due to the weather. Can’t haul something like those on an open trailer in the rain.
