My take on this: She was the “bag lady” on a drug deal which took place on her hiking trail.
Well, see, there are some nice people in Iran after all. Er...in California, even.
If she rewards the honest finder of her $10,000 with a measly $100, I would guess that she probably often stiffs her waitresses and waiters out of any tip whatsoever.
A common observation by those who work in restaurants is that some of the cheapest customers are those who are wealthy but got their meals comped. They are especially bad at leaving tips. The poor and middle class are often far more generous.
A hundred dollars?! She ought to be ashamed. She lost it all and wouldn’t have any of it if it hadn’t been for that kid’s honesty. Yes, he did what he was supposed to do. But, still, 25% would have been an appropriate reward, imo.
She should have given him a lot more.
If he had returned that purse with $5000 in it, would she have given him $50?
