The IRAQ war was a major disaster no matter the spin put on it.

What did America gain from this war?, nothing.

It cost a fortune in Lives, Money and the ME was destabilized.

The one thing that will end MAGA is another stupid war.

He is willing to write about the British propaganda of WW I about those evil 1914 Germans tossing the babies into their bayonets when they marched into Belgium and causing other harm to that country.

That propaganda was used to convince Americans to get involved in the war.

Something more that Hitchens didn’t write about.

An American guy who worked for a British mining company started an effort to provide “relief” for Belgium.

His name was Herbert Hoover, a future POTUS.

Foreign collusion with a future President of the United States.

I picked that up by inference from looking at the exhibits at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library in Iowa this summer.

There’s been revisionist thinking that perhaps the Belgian atrocities were, in fact, true. Whether they impaled babies...

I don’t think that’s what got us into the war, anyway - I’d say the sinking of the Lusitania was a more likely excuse.

Nobody seems to notice the hurricanes, weather/tectonic events, terrorist attacks on America that seem to coincide with us double-crossing Israel.

If you look them up, it’s eye-opening. Heck, Rabin and Sharon got their punishment for doing it to their own nation.

Israel attacks targets in Syria whenever they want. They just blew up Iranian supplies in Damascus yesterday. Israel is actually allied with the GCC. Not many people know that.

When I read stories about parents neglecting their kids, or about countries hurting their citizens, my attitude is the same.

In the former case my response is, “not my kids”.

In the latter my response is, “It is their country. If their government is abusing them, well, they can learn a lesson from the history of the US and write up their own declaration of independence.

>>>Make no mistake... The Syrian war is NOT about Syria.... It’s about Israel, and who controls the oil coming out of it.

Yep. It's about two competing pipelines. That's it.

They just blew up Iranian supplies in Damascus yesterday.

Apparently a failed Israeli strategy as Suleimani is not slowing down and is actually increasing his forces. The IDF is dithering like the political leadership, mainly because the IDF is in poor shape for a real war, due to neglect and poor leadership (sort of like the US).

Have you looked into the alliance between Israel and the GCC?

Not in any depth and is not really relevant at this point IMHO.

It’s very relevant to understanding what’s really going on in the gulf states. Everything changed since around 2015 and solidified after Trump’s ME visit.

Before WWII the British considered attacking Soviet Russia. It was only after Germany invaded that Stalin turned from a vicious commie dictator to “Uncle Joe.”

I was just a kid in WWII and lived in NYC. We had one old gal who lived in the apartment across from us who was a devout Communist and parroted the Party Line, condemning fascism. When the Nazis signed a peace treaty with Russia, she swung like a compass needle in the other direction. She swung another 180 in 1941. That's when I got an early education on how they did things.

Pretty soon after that, we heard nothing but good things about "Good Ole Uncle Joe".

Considering what’s happened in the world since 9-11-2001, increased Saudi prosperity may be a bad thing for the world. It wasn’t Iranians flying those planes into the World Trade Center nor has it been Shiites blowing up subways, shooting up American citizens or bombing marathons. We need to quit worrying and obsessing over Iran and consider who has really been attacking the West.

I guess the atrocities stories were more about changing public opinion in the US in the pre-1917 period.

2000 people every day cross the border.

If they were part of an army that size of force would equal 3 battalions, or one Brigade...
Every day.
