Lisa Page bombshell testimony: Collusion between Trump and Russia unproven by time of Mueller's special counsel appointment.
Former FBI attorney Lisa Page, in a bombshell revelation, says the agency could not prove collusion between Russia and Donald Trump's presidential campaign before Special Counsel Robert Mueller was appointed.
Page told a closed-door joint session of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees in mid-July that investigators could not make the charge, according to a transcript of her deposition reviewed by Fox News.
'I think this represents that even as far as May 2017, we still couldn't answer the question,' Page said.
In May 2017, Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as special counsel overseeing an ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Trump and his Republican allies are likely to use this revelation to boost their argument the president is a victim of a witch hunt and the investigation has been tainted by politics.
But her testimony refers to a point in the investigation from over a year ago and it's unclear where the probe stands now.
Mueller has been tight-fisted with his look into Russia election tampering and has given no interviews.
But, since his appointment, his team has secured cooperation and plea deals from Trump players former National Security adviser Michael Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, Manafort deputy Richard Gates and former campaign adviser George Papadopoulos.
The president has long and repeatedly argued there is no collusion and he is a victim of a witch hunt.
He made the same case in a tweet Sunday morning.

My wife doesn’t pay much attention to this stuff. While she agrees that Trump is getting screwed, she Suggested that a wholesale roundup of conspirators would be likened to Gestapo round-up by the left.
I am not sure this would be enough to turn the media tide.

I’m hoping that Trump appoints a special prosecutor to give Mueller and his crew an examination for this. Its been a witch hunt from day one, to keep Trumps AG sidelined.
I’m thinking the crap hits the fan next week. Many more text messages are coming out. I think I saw it is thousands more. Then add in the FISA warrant and Nellie testifying. A hot week coming up. And Chuck Todd doesnt even know about any of this :) Someone needs to catch him up on twitter.
Stop wasting our money on this circus. But hey if they want to destroy what little of any respect they had left go for it. Americans have had it with their third grade tactics
All they could prove was tax evasion from 15 years ago which is exactly what this investigation was about. Making the Republican party against the law.
Why is this a bombshell? Everyone knows the whole thing has been a farce.
This whole debacle is just that. A Special Counsel that is doing an investigation to find a crime. As a former member of LE, we would investigate alleged crimes.. Man, how politics changes the process. Why would the High Courts or the AG let this stand???
