I call this opinion wishful thinking, not knowing.
Manafort will offer perjured testimony against Trump which will not stand up under even the most superficial examination. But it will never go to trial. It will be selectively leaked to the media (the October Surprise) in order to damage Republican election prospects in the November mid-terms.
And if the Republicans manage to hold on, there needs to be a vicious payback. Let the purges begin on November 12th!

It is strange that Manafort, who worked for Trump about three months, would be holding the secretive reins for the entire Russian collusion event. Which means that Manafort must be a fearsome person if he could rig an entire presidential election from deep in the shadows, without authority or organization, all by himself.
