He has just as much right to say he wasn't at a party she can't remember as she has to say he was at a party she can't remember.
At “her” party, there was illegal drinking. It is reasonable for him to say that he went to no parties where drinking was involved. That, or he left when he discovered it did involve drinking.
Ford’s letter states she received medical treatment regarding the assault. When, where, would be a paper trail and parents permission to treat involved at 15? The paperwork for medical treatment would at the least provide a chronology.
What? Perhaps Kavanaugh remembers that he never saw her at any party he ever attended, him being the type who attended very FEW parties if any. Perhaps his inner circle of friends didn't fraternize with her circle of friends and didn't hang out together at the same parties. Entirely possible back in those days where you had the Stoners, the Surfers, the Jocks, the Nerds. Perhaps he was a Jock whereas now he is a Nerd.
It seems most likely that Kavanaugh never attended any party where there was no adult supervision and alcohol was served to minors.

Kavanaugh may not have been a HS partier or drinker or perhaps spent his summer someplace else.

Because he knows his character. I can say, without a doubt, that I had never been skydiving at any particular time, because I never went skydiving. I can say, without a doubt, that I have never been to a frat party, because I never associated with that crowd. I can say, without a doubt, that I never was in any specific elk hunting party, because I have never hunted elk. I can go on and on.
Kavanaugh may not have known where he was on that unspecified day, but he knows if he ever went to any drinking party or got stinking drunk in high school. There are some high school kids who simply don’t attend parties or drink.
