NEW YORK NYPD officers shot and killed a knife-wielding woman after she lured them to her Queens home by reporting a burglary, then lunged at them Monday evening, police sources said.
The 54-year-old woman, identified by police sources as Susan Muller, called 911 to report a woman had broken into her home on 69th St. by 52nd Rd. in Maspeth just after 5:25 p.m., cops said.
Four officers responded and entered the home, and the woman followed them in, sources said. She then pulled out a 10-inch kitchen knife and lunged at them, and the cops fatally shot her, police said.
They immediately provided medical aid to the woman, but she was too far gone, sources said.
"A total of 50 seconds passed from the arrival to shots fired," said NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea "She followed them in and came at the officers with the knife."
Two of the responding officers wore body cameras, but it's not clear if the shooting was caught on tape.
"One officer ordered her to put it down. We know that because there was body camera video," Shea said. Another officer opened fire three times, Shea said.
Police believe the woman may have been emotionally disturbed, and officers have responded to several past calls at the house, sources said.
"Her motivation is unknown....There is a history of calls at this location," Shea said.
Young Kim, who lives next door, said she heard four shots, then saw police swarm the block.
"It was (a) gunshot...I heard (it) four times. I got scared," said Kim, who was at home with her daughters.
She said everything was quiet next door before the shots, she said.
"No yelling, no fighting, I didn't hear anything," Kim said.
Another neighbor, Kevin Tang, 17, said the couple living in the home seemed "paranoid and suspicious."
"She'd usually start a lot of fights with (him)," Tang said of the woman. "The police have come a few times. The police and an ambulance came a few days ago."
Well, her heirs have certainly won the lottery.
Suicide by cops...
Interesting tidbit: The grandson of the inventor of an orange flavored powder to mix with water, for astronauts, lives in Queens, NY. Wow!
And they've got a neighbor — apparently unrelated — with the surname "Tang".
Does he have a sister named Poon?.................
Related to the Speshul Kounsel in any way?
Anymore when I hear police claim that someone “lunged” at them causing them to empty their guns at the person my immediate suspicion is that they’re lying.
Because all too often they are.
In any case the use of the word ‘lunge’ or ‘lunged’ by police is to me like an alarm bell.
Let’s see the bodycam video of the woman lunging at these cops.
Or is there any?
Maybe there isn’t any video, and that means exactly nothing. People do indeed lunge at cops with knives.
Tell us about all your cop experience sweetie.
Yes, there certainly are some “standard boilerplate” phrases that police seem to use in their reports when they want to exonerate themselves if they did do something wrong...
“Suspect acted erratically”, “failed to respond to commands”,
“Suspect reached for their waistband”, “At this point the officer feared for their life...”
Of course, these things do happen, but we have also seen plenty of cases where reports written up with these kind of phrases don’t match what actually happened when the video comes out.
“Tell us about all your cop experience sweetie.”
Sure. Between the ages of sixteen and eighteen I was treated to the Sacramento PD, CPS, and Sheriff’s Department breaking into our apartment at random times and not once with a warrant. I was stopped on the street, detained, and searched more times than I can count. I was arrested twice for the crime of walking home from school forcing my mother to come get me from the downtown jail. Both times the bullshit charges were later dropped. I got pulled out of class several times, I was searched, and then interrogated trying to get me to confess to holding drugs for my mother (which I never did).
After I moved out and relocated to Lincoln, in Placer County I had the Sac County CPS show up at my new home to bother me yet more even though I was then eighteen. My husband instructed them never to bother me again...and I am understating this just a bit.
Then when we moved to Wyoming I got to meet the absolutely wonderful, friendly, and helpful people from the Park County Sheriff’s Department. They are uniformly courteous and polite every time I see them.
And I’ll tell you that NOTHING in the world will sour a person more on bad cops than GOOD COPS.
Seriously, I didn’t know how much contempt I had for corrupt, sadistic, brutal, selfish thugs with badges until I met the kind of people who honor their oaths and their badges every single day.
See, you don’t know how bad it is until you have it good.
By the way, our cops proudly wear the US flag on their uniforms, not that abomination of a gang symbol with the blue line in it.

Suicide by cop.
“Why were the central California gendarmes so interested in you?”
My parents got into meth after my brother died. My father ended up in prison where he died and that left me living with my mother. The cops would raid the apartment hoping to find my mom holding and she never was (she was smart enough to hide her stash outside) so they turned their attention to me. Maybe it was frustration on their part or maybe they thought they could get my mom by getting me.
In any case I was never involved in drugs and the experience proved to me that cops can do whatever the hell they want and they will almost always get away with it.
