Former professional hockey player Tim Brent, who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes, has received death threats after legally harvesting a grizzly bear, The Resurgent reported.
Brent, who's married to well-known hunter Eva Shockey, posted a picture of his harvest on social media. It wasn't long before anti-hunters chimed in and ridiculed him for his actions:
Brent harvested the grizzly and a moose with his father-in-law in the Yukon. People, however, were more upset by the pictures of the grizzly than they were the moose.
Here are just a few of the responses Brent received:
So there was a majestic creature, minding it's own business, in it's own house. Eating fish & berries & pooping fertilizer & seeds for the future. And you killed it. For a selfie. God Damn your self importance.
Would be a lovely if a bear came in to your neighbourhood and killed you. Then got his little bear mates to take a picture of him sitting on your corpse.
I wish it had eaten you.
I hope you die a very slow and painful death you are everything I hate about humanity.
Brent responded to anti-hunters with one image that prove exactly why people in this country continue to hunt:
[Thank you, but I am a fungus, the 2391 iteration of it, but I have lost count as there are so many fungi.]
A fungus amongus.
Leftists are unbearable.
my husband is an avid hunter and has hunted in Wyo/Oregon/Alaska/Idaho/Washington/NY and Pennsylvania....
we live in an area where hunting is big and I work with several nurses who also hunt with their husbands....
hunters generally are the best people in the world...
BBQ!!!!!!!!
#21. Have you ever seen photos of Pelosi and Ginsburg?
“They Live” among us like a fungus.
There IS NO SHORTAGE of grizzly bears in Western Canada.
If any of these Libs came face-to-face with one they are really going to wish Brent was there with his gun.

In whining about what he did you’re doing exactly what you’re whining about.
Are you really that insecure? Just live your life and shut up.
That’s a horrible opinion. Sounds like a passive aggressive way to imply what you’re really angry about is that he shot the bear.
Gonna need a bigger freezer........
We hunt and fish and while I have ONE doe under my belt, Beau has harvested some amazingly HUGE animals through the years; bear, elk, deer, etc. We eat wild game or fish weekly.
We also raise Treeing Walker Coon Hounds and Plot Hounds to hunt raccoon and bear.
ANY posts to Social Media are in CLOSED groups and I don’t have a single thing that’s ‘public’ on FB. It’s not worth the hassle.
I hate PETA Nazis. I’m not giving them anything. If they’re so concerned, WHY aren’t they contacting their CongressCritters to make hunting illegal?
Now, THAT would be some fun, LOL!
Wow, nice full freezer! The ones who are giving him death threat how about putting a bear that size in their homes.
Used to love it when I lived in the UP growing up.
Had a neighbor that went bear hunting a lot. When he got one most went in the freezer but all the neighbors were invited over and would bring pork, buns and all the fixings.
The bear meat was ground up with the pork and we had a giant bear burger cookout.
I make Bear Sloppy Joes for Beau’s Hunt club on a regular basis. The crock pot always comes home empty!
He got a nice Elk last year, so when I make a Meatloaf, it’s a Belk-Loaf, LOL! (Bear & Elk)
Beau will be in the MI UP next week, gunnin’ for bear.
Tell him good luck from me.
I guess it depends on what you value more - humans or those who attack humans without justification.
