Why should she be given the protection of a closed-door hearing? Judge Kavanaugh has been belittled, bashed, condemned, and harassed in the public domain. She’s the one who has made the allegations, and should be made to appear in public to defend them. I’ve given up any hope of Republicans ever growing a set of balls, and a backbone.
Because it protects the republicans from the mid-term election fallout: If in open session, they take it easy on her, don't challenge the veracity of her charges/memory, it hurts Judge K. and will piss off the conservative base. If they take her to task, the women vote democrat in the November mid-terms. Any senator after the hearing that votes for Kavanaugh will then be blackmailed/threatened politically and/or physically.
As I stated in response to rdl6989’s earlier post, “Why do you want to give the Rats a chance to give a full display of Kabuki theatre? It would only increase their chance to delay the confirmation process.
Anita had to give her testimony on camera. Why shouldn’t Ford? Surely, Grassley isn’t making an exception because she’s white! That’s racist!!!
I still haven’t heard if there are any police records relating to this incident. Without those, it is all hearsay. There are statute of limitations. Plus people’s memories get faulty after several decades.
