~ 2018 National POW/MIA Day ~
21 September 2018

Observances of National POW/MIA Recognition Day are held across the country on military installations, ships at sea, state capitols, schools and veterans' facilities. This observance is one of six days throughout the year that Congress has mandated the flying of the National League of Families' POW/MIA flag. The others are Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. The flag is to be flown at major military installations, national cemeteries, all post offices, VA medical facilities, the World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the official offices of the secretaries of state, defense and veterans affairs, the director of the selective service system and the White House.

Nah, it isn’t that cold, and if it’s clear tomorrow night when I’m not kind of tired, I’ll go out and see the stars. Makes me wish I had my telescope with me.

I guess we’re not going to get to go to the Raptor Center. :( It’s $15-18 apiece for an entrance fee, and that’s just a bit steep for 4 people....or it is to me. sigh

Oh, well, our eagle cams will be up and running again before long. I’ll get my fill of eagles that way.

That’ll be great. You can text me about an hour before if you need me. Or at a closer time. It doesn’t take that long any more to set it up.....if the table is all ready. :)

Enjoy your movie.
And yep, this is when you WANT an alarm clock set in the room. LOL
Just remember to turn it off this weekend. ;-)

It WAS fun. We went to Yellowstone Natl Park and hubby got to see Old Faithful go off. The drive up and back was spectacular.

This is Grand Teton just as the sun begins to set behind it.

You did have a long, active day. Understandable you’re a bit tired tonight.
I hope it isn’t cloudy tomorrow night so you can admire the stars.

Sounds like you should have energy tomorrow night since you aren’t going to the Raptor Center. Bummer the admission is a bit steep but they have to feed the birds in their care somehow.

Yep, the FL cams should be up fairly soon!

I don’t blame THEM. They have a mission to take care of those wonderful birds. But we just can’t afford it, to tell the truth. Would have loved to see them, though. Oh, well!

Beautiful sight. I’m sure the pic doesn’t do justice to seeing the view in person.

I know you don’t blame them. You understand and appreciate their efforts.
But it IS a bit of a hit on the pocketbook when there’s a group of you. I understand that limitation all too well. :-(

A very pleasant good Thursday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country.

How's it going for you this morning?

No, it sure doesn’t do the sight any justice. There was a lot of smoke in the air that diffused the sunlight as it went behind the mountain. Had to take it through the windshield from the back seat. LOL! But I got it! :)

The smoke created a nice halo around the sun but it still sux where it came from.

I could tell it was taken through a window but the windshield from the back seat? LOL

Still having the lake to ourselves. We have rain in the forecast for Friday and Saturday. Going to try to do Comanche Lake this weekend when the weather allows. They’re forecasting 3 to 4 inches in our area from this upcoming rain event.

Dang! I think that’s the front that’s supposed to come through here this weekend but we won’t get as much rain from it as y’all will. It’s going to make for soggy walks for you two.

We look forward to it passing through since it’ll cool things off. It’s too late in Sept. for temps in the mid 90s!

Well, I had to try, didn’t I! LOL!

Guess I’d better go. Everyone is asleep but me. I can’t believe we only have one more full day before we have to leave on Friday morning. What a short week this has been. No telling when we’ll get to see them again.

See ya tomorrow night at some point. Have a good day tomorrow!

Of COURSE you had to try. LOL! And you got the pic.

It’s a shame you don’t get to spend more time with them but at least you got to get up there for a few days. It sounds like y’all have had a great visit. I’ll bet the girls have grown a lot since your last trip up there.

Have a great time tomorrow. Catch ya tomorrow night.

Is the smoke any better at your house?

A bit of wind has moved the smoke out. There is fog this morning which is a nice break.
