As of this year, in order to purchase ammunition in CA from a retailer, you have to pass a “background check” much the same as if you were to purchase a gun. Then you are issued a “license” which you must produce each and every time you buy ammunition. And the record of your purchase is forwarded to the state.
So a lot of gun owners in CA, are simply going to Nevada to purchase their ammo. You have to wonder just how long it will be before CA has “agents” at the state’s POEs to search your car for contraband ammo, because it is now a crime to “import” ammunition into CA?

No that law will take effect Jan. 1st 2019, if the Kali DOJ can figure out how to license everybody.

Right now only ammo sellers have to be licensed. I buy all the ammo I want here in Kali. Also, ammo is cash and carry atm. No ID at all.

I got that part, but thanks.

Ummm...this part I didn’t get:

“doing a land office business”

Maybe this is an expression simply meaning, “making a very profitable business of”...?

The expression is new to me. Or...maybe it’s not an expression but has something to do with an actual land office..?

:/
