I made an appalling and inexcusable mistake of judgment in posting the tweet thread in a way that identified Kavanaugh's Georgetown Prep classmate. I take full responsibility for that mistake, and I deeply apologize for it. I realize that does not undo the mistake.

He did an analysis of the claims Ford made and used them to posit a possible address of the home where this could have happened. He posted pictures of the home and a floor plan and related it to her claims. Then he identified the kid who lived in the home and noted that the kid looked a lot like Kavanaugh.
Basically, he set some other kid up as the perp.
No. He unfairly did a “Plan B” by offering up another kid as the possible assailant. Not cool.
I have to admit, when I first saw this story where he talked about a look a like to Judge Kavanaugh that possibly did it, I thought this was as bad as Ford’s allegations. I mean all he was doing was supposing and outing this guy who I guess is a middle school teacher. Can you imagine that you are going through your life and then all of the sudden you are in the $h@tstorm that is politics all because someone said it might be you that raped a woman 36 years ago with no evidence?
Other than Twitter rage, he didn’t introduce any legal jeopardy. Statute of limitations for this type of assault in Maryland in one year.

It did seem odd to post another innocent man’s name. He should get honorary membership in #MeToo at the least.

What if that kid IS the assailant?
I do find it interesting that in a NYT story she called an old friend and asked her if she remembers her talking about the event at the time and the girl said “no”. It suggests that something like this really did happen and that she was sincere in 2012. But remember, in 2012 there were no names attached.
The tweet, in a way, shows just how ridiculous this whole thing is. I can imagine the guy that lived there admitting that he made out with a girl and it may have been her, but it was nothing like what she describes and, yes, he never got to second base.

In the original tweet, now deleted, Whelan is speculating that the accuser misidentified Kavanaugh, confusing him with another classmate.
