I am hopeful that Grassley does not respond. Make Dr. Ford make the next move. Asking for one more day to consider is not really an offer.
The problem is that most of these guys are lawyers. When you ask a court for an extension of time to file something for good cause and don't hear, then it is presumably granted, especially if its just a couple of days and no harm is done. But the problem is that you then need to get it in whatever you were supposed to submit.
