At this point, I think that they anticipate voting to confirm Kavanaugh, but they will insist on taking every delaying tactic at face value until the last possible moment. To reduce it to a formula: how many obvious Democrat abuses does Susan Collins need to be able to recite to feel comfortable facing down protestors at a townhall meeting in Bangor? This is hard because Susan Collins never feels comfortable about any controversial issue.
