They won't be the minority party after November if they succeed in blocking Kavanaugh. A demoralized Republican base WILL stay home.

The Chester Lott-led Senate that refused to try Bill Clinton's impeachment is still the league leader with this current McConnell-led Senate a close second. It takes a lot to overcome Lott's infamous words to Henry Hyde and the House impeachment managers when they first met about the trial.
