If Grassley can let it stretch out through the week and into the next week, I believe that according to Senate rules and procedures the Kavanaugh nom is finished. I think he is hoping to do this. Whether he does probably depends at least some on how he responds to pressure from the President. If he can get it to just slide off the table like that then the Republicans can breathe a sigh of relief that the Trump phenomenon has been crippled.
