Christine Blasey Ford, accuser of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, agrees to Senate testimony about sexual assault claim

• Christine Blasey Ford, a California professor at the center of a sexual assault accusation against U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, has agreed to testify to representatives of the Senate Judiciary Committee sometime next week.
• The details have yet to be worked out, but it could mean the end of a lengthy and emotional political fight that has stalled Kavanaugh's nomination.

  Dr. Ford accepts the Committee's request to provide her first-hand knowledge of Brett Kavanaugh's sexual misconduct next week. Although many aspects of the proposal you provided via email, on September 21, 2018, at 2:33 pm, are fundamentally inconsistent with the Committee's promise of a fair, impartial investigation into her allegations, and we are disappointed with the leaks and the bullying that have tainted the process, we are hopeful that we can reach agreement on details. Can we set up a time for later this afternoon to continue our negotiations?

The game plan is to run out the clock.

This very moment there is a script being prepared for her to memorize and practice. The script will raise issues that will cause deliberations to last for enough time to derail Kavanaugh.

As I posted before, I believe there is an unwritten rule or policy, an understanding among members of Congress that in the 30 days preceding an election, no business is concluded that could sway or influence voters.

The midterm election is Tuesday, November 6, and the 30-day window would start Saturday, October 6 and end Monday, November 5.

Once she arrives this week, the script must raise enough doubts or talking points to carry deliberations through October 5. At the hearing, she will be assisted by Democrats who will take all week to question her and then there will also be time for Kavanaugh’s response which the Democrats will drag out as well.

All the while, the corporate media will let this madness dominate the news cycle, and we are likely to see polls announced that the public believes her and not him, etc.

I expect to see delay and drama unfold in such a manner to allow Democrats to go home to campaign for the election explaining that the matter of Kavanaugh can be taken up when they get back.

Their only hope is to run out the clock to the Midterms and then win the Midterms.

The Republicans led by Grassley and McConnell control this, whether they want to or not. They need to get their house in order (with any senators of concern), then say: “The committee votes Monday at 10 a.m. to move this to the Senate and the Senate votes on Thursday. We’ve gone far beyond any reasonable accomodation and will negotiate nothing further. The decision to testify or not rests entirely on you, and you are fully aware of the confirmation vote schedule.

If the committee acquiesces and holds the hearing on Thursday, not Monday as currently planned, then it sounds to me like Ford gets everything she wants and the Republicans once again give in and lose.
