As I posted on another thread:

If Kavanaugh is not voted, confirmed, and seated on the Supreme Court by Oct 1st (a Monday) then the Supreme court is basically deadlocked for an entire year with only 8 justices.

The Term of the Court begins, by law, on the first Monday in October and lasts until the first Monday in October of the next year.

This is so wrong. Please explain how Gorsuch was approved in April and was seated a few days later — in the middle of a session. Everyone needs to stop spouting this nonsense.

It doesn’t matter what you posted, it isn’t true.

Lewis Powell and William Rehnquist were sworn in January 7, 1972
Clarence Thomas was sworn in October 23, 1991.
Neil Gorsuch was sworn in April 8, 2017.

Justices are sworn in mid term quite often. The court can reset and rehear for reargument cases that were tied prior to a new justice taking office.

Thanks. Never understood what any of it had to do with the mid terms.

So, Thursday it is. Gee, isn’t that special they don’t work on Fridays, much less weekends like us serfs do.
