I believe what had put off the largest number of Republican voters in Alabama happened well before there was a special election senate campaign
Moore had been elected as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court twice, and pulled stunts that resulted in his being removed from the court both times. That reminded older residents of how George Wallace also defied federal courts and put the state in the history books forever in very negative ways. Many voters did not want another state official carrying on that tradition and many Republican voters probably stayed home.
Why elect someone to an important statewide office when they lack the judgment and common sense to not carry out defiance of federal courts or laws when he has no chance of winning on a particular issue?
There’s no such thing as 25 “good names” … every single one of them male or female would face a battery of crafted smears just like this. If Jesus Christ himself was nominated the Dems would smear him for associating with harlots, and supporting human sacrifice.

And btw, how many men have used women as “Slump Busters”? How many women have slept with men because they think they are marriage material, or wanted to continue to date them? How many women have tried to sleep their way to curry favor with the boss?
I know people in all the above categories. We all know about how the Clintons and Kennedys have used women, in FAR GREATER INJURY than ANYTHING above. How about Hollywood and the “casting couch”? That term didn’t get there by accident.
Think hilLIAR didn’t know the rep of FatHarv? Streep? Couric et al on Lauer? Some things may surprise us in our lifetimes, some people “aren’t the type” so we think, but in the big circles these jerks run in, EVERYONE KNOWS

What is truly damaging here is the character testimony of Kavanaugh's ex-roommate, stating that he was known to be a bad drunk and saying that he wouldn't put the conduct in question past Kavanaugh.

Exactly right and the GOP needs to fight just as hard and just as dirty. The Left needs to start taking casualties, not like the present situation where they all get free shots while the Republicans retreat and cower.

So I hear. However, it may be the Dems have just overplayed their hand with all this. Dan Bongino is all over Twitter with dire warnings. Not sure how to interpret. But these so-called disclosures are so entirely suspicious it’s unbelievable. Prayers up for protection of Judge K and his family, as well as to POTUS and his family. Grassley and all the Repub Senators had better come through and not wimp out on us. It’s Justice Thomas v.2.

He had very solid support from about 1/3 of Republican voters. Enough to get on the supreme court a couple of times, but he did very poorly in statewide elections after that. He probably kept most of his most loyal supporters, enough to win a special election, Republican primary, but not enough to win the statewide senate vote in the general election.
