The country is in danger if people who are a couple of steps away from the Spanish Inquisition are voted into office. The Democratic Party, by using specious attacks, are setting the cause of women way back, which I suppose suits them just fine because it will make life much more difficult for the women being harassed by Democrats. Beyond that though, people who run things this way must not be given the levers of power. This is disqualifying. The question is how to convey the danger of rule by fear enforced by people’s lives being destroyed by arbitrary and specious attacks? It seems like a no-brainer to me.

The political left doesn’t want Americans to be proud of their country.

The political left is not proud of their country or its constitutional government. The political left favor a totalitarian state where accusations equal guilt, where people are guilty because of their beliefs, where mob rule is the norm.

There is a vast left wing conspiracy that is getting bolder and more violent. Democrats lie about their real intentions to get elected because if they told the truth voters would go elsewhere.

When will this change? We are in a civil war without guns, but not without violence and thuggery by the left. The left is well funded, is cunning, and has more experience.

We are seeing that play out now.

If the GOP or some conservative group with money would start funding civil slander suits after a bimbo bombing has taken place, it might put an end to volunteers/payees for the cause. The accusers always fade away like it never happened, after they have done their damage and the GOP is always happy to put it all behind themselves, knowing the DNC is going pull this crap every time they feel they’re going to lose a spot in government.

against a press whose venomous corruption is a grave threat to American pluralism and its democratic order

At this minute, the press is busily smearing and impugning the integrity of the second highest court in the land.

Good read. DeSantis needs to start fighting back, imo. Gillum is a crazy socialist and needs to be exposed, in his own words. All we see in Ron’s ads are sunshine and puppies, while the left is in full smear mode.

Cynicism is the name of the game with Democrat politicians.

Cynicism towards anyone who rejects their propaganda. Cynicism towards society.

But note, if two things are opposites, no coherent philosophy can be cynical towards both. “No man can serve two masters.”

As Thomas Paine noted in Common Sense, government exists to control evil in society. It follows that cynicism toward society cries out, not against government, but precisely in favor of more government. Thus, cynicism toward society is actually naiveté towards government.

One definition (AFAIK my own original) of cynicism is “the conceit that ‘negativity is objectivity.’” But as I have shown, cynicism toward one thing very easily maps to naiveté towards the other. So saying that “cynicism is extreme skepticism” is far too simple. "Skepticism” towards what?

But the answer to the conundrum is not that cynicism is too much skepticism, it is that cynicism is arbitrary and unbalanced skepticism, actually resulting in naiveté, its apparent opposite. No, cynicism is not skeptical enough of the opposite of its favorite target. “Conservatives” are not cynical about government or about society - it is skeptical of both. It is skeptical of government because it is an evil which, if it does no other damage to me, costs me money in taxes. I would rather need none of it. But conservatism does not promote cynicism toward government.

Cynicism towards government would demand the abolition of government - whereas conservatism merely demands that government be kept within its defined boundaries. It demands that the limitations placed on constitutional government by the Constitution itself be scrupulously honored. In fact, “conservatism” is a very questionable name for a philosophy which is conservative only of limitations on government (there being no substantial movement towards abolition of government, conservatism need not exercise itself overmuch with opposing that).

Brett Kavanaugh does not, AFAIK, presume to claim blamelessness. But a cloud of witnesses assure us that he has, “from his youth up” (in the biblical expression) merited a good report as much as any and more than most. He has undergone six (count ‘em, 6) background checks, which have turned up nothing. And yet after all those good reports of the man’s qualifications, competence, and character, people are now promoting the conceit that Judge Kavenaugh must prove the negative - must, IOW, account for every moment of his existence from the time he was in high school. And failing that, he is to be assigned a foul reputation and denied confirmation of the appointment which his accomplishments otherwise eminently qualify him.

And that, Dear Reader, is cynicism - is the arbitrary conceit that “negativity is objectivity."
