Fat Chance: Evolutionists Push Date of Soft Tissue Back 558 Million Years

September 22, 2018 | David F. Coppedge

The latest find of original molecules in a fossil should falsify long ages, but the discoverers use it to celebrate Darwinian evolution.

Conversation #1:

Evolutionist: The diversity of life all around us all came about by unguided genetic drift.
Me: There's no way that possible.
Evolutionist: It happened over the course of hundreds of millions of years.
Me: I don't care. Unguided genetic drift couldn't ever come up with what I see every day.
Evolutionist: You only say that because you just don't realize what a long time we're talking about. Hundred of millions of years is INCREDIBLY long. Your mind can't even begin to comprehend how much time that is.

Conservation #2:

Evolutionist: Hey! We just found soft tissue that's 558 million years old!
Me: You only say that because you just don't realize what a long time we're talking about. Hundred of millions of years is INCREDIBLY long. Your mind can't even begin to comprehend how ridiculous your claim is.

creature?

If it doesn’t have specific organs or systems, how is it different than a plant?

I’m sure biologist have specific criteria for botanical classification which would exclude this, but it seems yawn-worthy except to troll evolution stuff.

Also, ‘Dickinsonia’ seems ripe for a joke

The existence of steroid-class molecules found in animals but no in plants.

From an interview with Mary Schweitzer, the conservative Christian who first discovered soft tissue in dinosaur bones:

I think the thing that surprised me most about that class was that I had no idea, coming from a conservative Christian background, that scientists are not all trying to disprove God in whatever way they can. What we were not told growing up is that there’s a lot of very rigorous, hard science that allows us to interpret the lives of organisms we’ve never seen—and knowing this made me rethink a few things, because I know God and God is not a deceiver. If you step back a little bit and let God be God I don’t think there’s any contradiction at all between the Bible and what we see in nature. He is under no obligation to meet our expectations. He is bigger than that.

I think the problem is not that God couldn’t create a cosmos in which evolution occurred, but that the whole idea of evolution undermines the veracity (and hence the authority) of the Bible.

LOLOLOL!!!

Right. Soft tissue that’s almost 600 million years old.

It’s amazing what you’ll believe in contrary to good science when emotional attachment to ideology is the dominant pole in your life.

Like you can do anything significant about changing climates.

Like humans can be “gender-fluid”, like worms and microbes.

Like everything came from nothing out of nowhere for no apparent reason.

And other such nonsense.

The answer to your question is complex but the answers and detailed discussion are described in the book "Wonderful Life: The Burgess Shale and the Nature of History" Stephen Gould describes the decads long studies of three or four scientists that studied various Burgess Shale fossil organism

I can say with a fair degree of certainty that none of the multiude of species discovered in the Burgess Shale is still present. A very early arthropod was found and is the ancient ancestor of us all.

Note that each and every one of those organisms is a complete and fully functional creature, not devoid of anything that is necessary for its survival and reproduction................

Nah! I might believe 557 million years but no way I believe 558. They are exaggerating.

God created evolution, and it works quite well.

Men wrote the bible. And like its creators, it is very good, but imperfect.

CHICAGO STATEMENT ON BIBLICAL INERRANCY

The “Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy” (CSBI) was produced at an international Summit Conference of evangelical leaders, held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago in the fall of 1978.

This congress was sponsored by the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy.

The Chicago Statement was signed by nearly 300 noted evangelical scholars.

This landmark document is considered to be the “first systematically comprehensive, broadly based, scholarly, creed-like statement on the inspiration and authority of Scripture in the history of the church.”1
