The US has a doleful reputation for forgetting those it left behind.

The US is doing all it can to fulfill our nation's promise to bring America's Fallen home.

Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency

You can imagine if the other person were in the White House instead (mentioning their name here likely does that sort of disservice to these two soldiers and the others yet to be identified and be returned home) that same dismal streak would very well likely have continued. And to even think that they would have been functional enough to have helped accomplish this sort of thing to begin with.

“Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency”

Yes, but that agency has a very poor reputation for how it handled the living Vietnam MIAs.

Welcome home, men.

That PFC looks so damn young. Make it even tougher to thing about what he went through.

“That war was almost 70 years ago; anyone who knew them has long since gone on to join them.”

Nonsense!

Thanks for posting this reference to our MIA’s, POW’s ETC, (several Lists) from various wars. Included is a list of MIA’s from Veit Nam- I’m wondering if these are the same ones that were “written off” by John F’n Kerry and Juan McCain?

A relative on the wife’s side of the family is 88. Just a few hours ago we learned he has cancer, who knows when it will take him, or if something else gets him first.

He was wounded in action, small arms fire, shortly after he got to Korea in 1950. One of the highlights of my time in the Marines was taking uncle Byron to be the guest of honor at a Marine Corps ball. The Marine Corps is pretty proud of how the First Marine Division performed in Korea, and it showed in the reception he got from all those present. I think it affected him greatly.

I’m glad he lived long enough to see this.

What a great story, not too many Uncle Byrons left, unfortunately.

Does anyone know what those chevrons on the lower sleeve
on the Sgt mean?

Those are service stripes and overseas bars.

Each service stripe signifies 3 years of service.

Each bar signifies 6 months in a combat zone.

I’m guessing that the sergeant was caught up in the debacle at Unsan. 8th Cav ran into the Chinese and got decimated. MacArthur refused to admit the Chinese were there until later in November, when the private was killed.
