Vietnam and China are both very young countries compared to the US - they both have very large under-30 populations, Mao and Ho have largely passed from living memory, and their Communist parties are more like the Democrats here - corrupt looters who want to perpetuate their own existence rather than the fanatical ideologues of yesteryear. They pose the same risk to the US today that the rest of the world does - they will steal as much from us as we let them. Trump gets that. Our future wars will not take place in East Asia.
