None of the papers on Corcept’s publications list explores the use of mifepristone as an abortion drug. It does have other uses, in treating Cushing’s disease (too much cortisol), and is being investigated to treat weight gain caused by anti-psychotics - the studies used male patients.

How negative and demeaning! I prefer to approach this using more positive expressions. Such as “expert racial cleanser” or “future crime fighter”. It captures their mindset much better.

Actually, it turns out that this article was incorrect about the drug usage for the company she worked for. Politifact

This is not true. I fully support Kavanaugh and think all accusations against him are baseless. I don’t know the motive but this latest speculation is not supported by facts.
Ford did data analysis on research papers submitted for publication by Corcept Therapeutics. Corcept uses mifepristone in their research. Research that has nothing to do with abortion. They produce one pharmaceutical product which is not in any way connected with abortion. Information on the company can be found here,
Corcept does not make or market RU-486 mifepristone. It is manufactured by a Chinese compnay Hua Lian and marketed by Danco LLC. The patent for RU-486 is held by Population Council.
The work Ford did for Corcept Therapeutics is not in anyway connected to RU-486. Though her personal beliefs about abortion probably do influence her allegations it is wrong to state that her work for Corcept is proof of this.

Mifepristone is an abortion drug.
Cortisol can be taken care of with phosphatidylserine.
Corcept Therapeutics does not manufacture or market RU-486/mifepristone. Their research has nothing to do with abortifacients.
I hate to state the obvious but the the whole concept of research is research. In pharmaceuticals that means researching and developing other options besides the known medications.
Thanks for clearing this up. The woman is very smart, based on her degrees and her work in statistics so I wanted to make sure we had the right person because some articles said she was a professor at some college, not working for a pharmaceutical company.
Ya know, there’s enough misinformation going around about this that there doesn’t need to be any more. I agree with your statement on Ford about this, but not Corcept.
