Parents in a Sacramento, California suburban school district were shocked this week to discover that Lt. Gov Gavin Newsom, the Democratic Party candidate for governor in November, is portrayed in a first-grade textbook as a champion for peoples rights. The textbook celebrates Newsom alongside such icons as President Abraham Lincoln and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. apparently for his decision, as mayor of San Francisco, to recognize gay marriages in 2004.

sorta makes sense:
MLK regularly beat-up prostitutes, Newsom humped the wife of his (former) best friend.
Gavin also likes swinging couples and skanks.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Barring some unforeseen event with the sale of our house, pending as of yesterday, we will have moved out of California late October before the election of this nutbag.
Doesnt that violate campaign finance laws?
Why?
Lincoln and King were Republicans.
Did Newsom switch parties?.................
We’re going to be stuck with this turd for the next 4 years in Kalifornia.
I’ll give him equal billing with King.
Whatever Kalifornia.
Brainwashing children.
I loved pointing out such hooey in textbooks to my middle school students.
Should have listed him next to the AIDS epidemic section.
Yepper ! That’s Ol’ Any Twosome Newsom ....
I know it sounds too utilitarian and not ‘long term’ enough for the Constitution, but we need a Constitutional Amendment that for the next 50 years students hear debates from both points of view. End the monopoly of indoctrination. Break the cycle for future school teachers, history teachers, and professors.
Do ya think that I am overdoing it when I complain that the teachers in an ‘expensive private school’ teach the grandkids they should “SHARE” their pens and pencils, paper etc with students who don’t have such?
Personally, I resent them being taught ‘socialism’...They learn the ‘right stuff’ in Sunday School.
Compulsive charity crushes the soul. Giving from the heart brings great joy.
It’s a big deal to a kid to have a pen taken away.
When a rich brat stole my only non-school book, I went balistic. It was a pretty neat book, and my prized possession. I went nuts. Still fume over it and I’m in my 50s.
ALL school should be of true value to a student. And with mandatory debates, they no longer can count on a monopoly. Imagine if every teacher was lined up for a mandatory debate each year which students could see online.
