Minnesota Democratic Congressman Keith Ellison has submitted a request for a House Ethics Committee investigation into domestic abuse allegations raised against him by an ex-girlfriend.
"Today I am announcing that I will submit a request for a House Ethics Committee investigation into allegations against me raised by a former partner. I am taking this step now because I am innocent and eager to see this entire matter resolved," Ellison wrote in a statement to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
The Democratic-Farmer-Labor party has hired a private lawyer, Susan E. Ellingstad, to conduct their own investigation into the allegation.
When reached for comment on Wednesday afternoon, Ellingstad said she could not comment.
"I have complied fully with that investigation, the results of which should be made public soon," Ellison wrote. "These allegations have lingered in the public sphere, and remain unsubstantiated. I welcome an investigation by the House to allow us to move on."
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has reached out to Ellison's ex-girlfriend Karen Monahan, who raised the allegations, for comment on these new developments but has yet to hear back.

So Ellison is asking the Ethics committee, which is bi-partisan, and thus has lots of Dems who will protect him, to do a thorough investigation, with only about a month before the 2018 election, with the House soon to go into recess, so the House members can go back to campaign. In other words, this is an empty gesture that is designed to make him look good.
He just F’d up royally. She has evidence and medical reports.
He should demand that the FBI investigate, right? The Dems seem to think that is the only way to get to the truth.

I believe she is deathly afraid of what will happen to her if her complaints brings him down. And she will get no support from the black community, the DNC. So he is willing for the ethics committee to talk to her because he has already scared the living sh*t out of her.
