I get sick of this crap. Even in the early 80’s, feminism was in its third decade of cultural ascendency. Women were ‘empowered’ as never before, and yet we are to believe that they still lived in the world of 1750, where any woman who made accusations of sexual assault would not be believed. Suddenly, these supposedly strong, brave women are afraid to report brutal crimes, even though the whole liberal culture was inclined to support them.

Precisely. Remember, this was an era where Ronald Reagan put Sandra Day O'Connor on the supreme court and hired a record number of women for high level government positions up to and including cabinet members.

Paula Hawkins was the U.S. Senator from Florida who had exposed sexual abuse in her own childhood.
