My SIL has had some old retired Navy guys telling him what a bog deal this is!
I know about Chiefs...my husband was a Navy officer.

I do not know how to describe it Meg, but it is a special position, where as the senior Non Commissioned Officer, it is your duty to keep 100 enlisted men from killing the 14 Commissioned officers who are just regular guys too.
It takes a certain demeanor

On Subs they kinda do, Chiefs are all like “We out number you, so let us discuss this like gentlemen” LOL
I can see on a sub where that might be necessary...My husband only complained about officers who did not do their job...never about enlisted guys.IIRC He was lowly Lt JG Navy reserve officer. Went to OCS just before the Korean cease fire agreement.
Here is where Chiefs come into play...
You got some knucklehead Ensign or Jr Butter Bar, and they think they know more than an enlisted man with 15 years service.
Time for diplomacy, lest you get killed LOL.

I could never do a Chiefs job, let alone an officers..
Their generally is a hierarchy to these things
I know how the people who worked for and with my husband in business respected him...He did not get that from being a know it all.
He was 48 when he died of a heart attack.
2 young men who worked for him came by 2 or 3 times just to talk about him and check on how I was doing..’We had never met before the funeral. We gave each other solace.

Thank you! Weirdly I don’t care for that song. When it comes on the radio I change stations, but when I saw them it was like a whole new song. Raw & full of energy.
