Even if the accusation were true it’s stupid. I’ve had worse involuntary sexual touching done to me by both men AND women, quite a number of times, and in no case did I care at all past the point of rejecting the behavior and re-establishing my personal space. It’s pretty normal to have this kind of thing happen in bars and nightclubs and other places where there is heavy drinking and the associated lack of inhibition.

The idea that someone touched your boobies at a partyand the memory 35 years later can bring you to the verge of tears is ludicrious on its face. This is a hoax, and Ford is part willing participant, part dupe of Democrat activists, and wholly an unwell woman whose evidence-less claims should never have been taken at face value by anyone.

I still think the husband has a hidden role in all of this.

I noticed that he wasn’t there yesterday, nor was he referenced very much in Ford’s testimony. It sounds like she consulted her “beach friends” more than her husband about how to proceed with her concerns.

I find that quite odd.

I was a cocktail waitress and then bartender in night clubs for over 20 years. I’m not traumatized and, as you said, have experienced much worse than what she described.

Without presuming to denigrate a woman’s feelings, I do think that the Democrats have assigned pretty much infinite significance to the charge. I mean, in any decision the significance of it is the seriousness of the issue times the certainty that the issue is or will become real. In a “he said, she said” situation certainty is not available, and you have to consider “how important is this if it is true” as well as, “how likely is it that it is true.”

In the case of deciding to buy a cup of coffee, the cost is certain and small, an impulse buy. Deciding to buy a luxury car, the cost is certain and not so small - big decision. Buy a lottery ticket? Cost isn’t a lot, possible payoff huge - probability of payoff essentially nil.

The Republicans should simply point out that, on this charge, even if it is true Kavanaugh didn’t start WWIII. But if the vote is delayed, on the available evidence we have to assume that within two weeks Kavanaugh will have “been the mastermind behind 9/11,” in another month he will have "bombed Pearl Harbor," and in another couple of months he will have “sunk the Lusitania."
