What they have done to date has done nothing but harm them politically. They are in a hole and can’t stop digging. So let them keep digging.

This preserves the nomination. The maniacs wanted him to withdraw. Meanwhile, there are going to be a lot of online detectives figuring out where and when a party might have occurred.

I recall reading on another thread earlier this afternoon someone commenting on the GOP have at least 4-5 Senate seats in the bag right now because the Dems screwed this whole thing up so bigly with the blatantly obvious falsehoods that even the late Ray Charles could see through if he were still with us. When you get out of the little dreamworld of the media, I’d dare say many are really fed up and angry with this show because of that.

That is what happens when your vote margin is not very big. Taking 4 or 5 new seats at the midterm will make those votes less relevant. I can wait a week they don’t have anything on him or it would already be out there.

we will obviously need a few more solid conservatives in the Senate before the next nomination comes up. What we are forced to endure now is what happens when you have a narrow majority facing a rabid minority.

The problem I see is that the Democrats will want to re-schedule hearings if anything “new” comes up.

If McCain was still around to vote instead of John Kyl, this nomination would be more dead than he is.
Everyone thinks this is just about keeping BK off the court and that's part of it. The other part is to keep BK from being able to sit when the dems attempt what will be an unconstitutional attempt at impeachment if they win the house. This I think is the real reason the dems want the delay. They believe they will win in november and will move to impeach the President but realize he has not committed an impeachable offense. Keeping BK from being seated removes court protection against the dems unconstitutional impeachment which would be a quick decision if BK is on the court.
Why? What's the next dirty trick they needed a little extra time to set up? It's coming. I didn't think it was possible to hate Jeff Flake as much as I did McCain but here we are.
This is the new normal and no nominee will be confirmed without enough conservatives in the Senate to do so.
Still in time before the midterms and they can keep the session open so no one goes home for campaigning.
